hilux 308 gearbox issues

Post by doublebagged »

having constant issues with the thrust bearing carrier constantly seizing on the shaft.
Standard hilux g/b, dellow bell housing behind a 308. Any ideas on how to solve this problem.

Im thinking about fitting a GQ patrol g/b, has anyone done this? Any thoughts?

This is the thrust bearing and carrier i use behind a 304 with an R150 box and a GMH 10" clutch.

I think it's a G52 bearing set anyway, it has been working for me for 12 months now.

Thrust bearing,

What gearbox are you running, the combination of bearing, fork and pivot may be wrong.

I think you mean thrust bearing seizing on input shaft sleeve? Is the the thrust bearing disengaging when you take your foot of clutch? Is the dellow bellhousing 360 or does it have an removable flywheel insepection plate.
I had a CRS bellhousing with a dyna in mine. had a bit of trouble setting up clutch at start. As to putting in a patrol gearbox, too much work if you ask me! My brother bought my lux off me and wants to put patrol diffs under it! again too much work!

Sorry missed that ,i'm running dellow modified fork standard diesel 4spd carrier an standard thrust bearing ,dellow half bell housing adapter.
I had to machine some metal off the back shoulder of the fork pivot so that the pivot would let the fork come back far enough an then make my own push rod an ball nut so that the clutch slave would work properly
Ive also rebuilt this box as a 5spd using a A.T.T kit

the thrust bearing is fitted to the carrier and that is seizing on the imput sharft sleeve. when i put my foot on the clutch it locks on and after pumping the clutch a couple of times it lets go rapidly.

Is the Clutch fork return spring connected? and big enough. If you can get at the thurst bearing (bellhousing inspection plate?) maybe loop some emery sandpaper tape over shaft sleeve and clean it up a bit and use some lube. Thats all i can think of...
