D22 Navara Snorkel fitment in engine bay

Post by MrGenius »

Anyone got pics of how the snorkel is fitted up in the engine bay on a D22 ZD30 Navara?
I need to see where the pipes go and how it connects up to the air box etc so i can see if i need to mod my intercooler pipes

i can't remember which snorkel you where getting.
safari i think come with a section that replaces the pre-filter that you have removed. i'm not sure if it will clear the pipes.
one possible way around it is the 2008 D22 doesn't have a pre filter, it has an intake pipe that sits up against the fender so any snorkel will just need to fit onto the end of it.

Ill probably buy the genuine nissan snorkel and fit that up, i just want to see how they look in the engine bay so i can plan ahead if i need to do some cooler pipe chopping.

they run strait from where the factory intake pipe goes so if you run a standard airbox in the standard position it will be no different with a snorkel fitted.

the standard snorkel (airtech??) connects to the prefilter so you will have to make some sort of pipe to connect it to the main filter or buy one of the 2008 models intake pipe.

just check that the nisan snorkel has drain holes for the rain ie it doesn't rely on the pre filter to drain out the water.

Does this help? If not I can take another pic of the actual engine bay for you.

Yeh mate it sure does if it fits how i think it does.
Im assuming the rubber hose joins the snorkel thru the guard and the plastic pipe goes straight to the airbox with the Pre-filter removed?

If that is how it goes it will fit in mine no probs

see the bit with round end and the other end is squareish, that goes from rubber hose to prefilter.

connection on the actuall airbox is triangler.

better off with a safari ;)

Yeh i just had a look and it is the triangular on the airbox side.
I could still cut and shut that pipe so it meets up or make a replacement one out of ally.
Safari one is too expensive
