Hi all
I tried the search function and it has failed to tell me what I need to know.
Going to change the CW&P on my Maverick wagon from 4.11's to 4.6's this weekend.
I have the dial indicator , low reading tension wrench to set up pinion preload and everything all sorted out.
The pinion shims is where one of my questions lies. Will I need different one? They are terrain tamer gears I am fitting. If I need different ones where can I get them from and any ideas on approximate thickness? Or can they be made up from shim plate?
Also shimming up the LSD tightener. Any tips on what Im looking at to do this? The LSD works fine as is but I would just love it to be a bit tighter........................................
Any other ideas and tips on what to look out for and an easier way to do it besides taking it to a diff shop?

Sorry to revive this old thread, but
These spacers/shims (of which one sets pinion height and the other sets pinion bearing preload) i priced em up from nissan and they $35ea therefore too much too just buy a range and mixn match untill get contact pattern right.
My question is will brass shim be suitable to pack it out if need be or will it hammer out and cost me more in the end?
Or maybe i could temporarily use the brass shim to get right then measure and order the right spacer(of which nissan don't stock in wa)
What did you diyers do in this situation?

Diesel is for tightarses
Well i bought some steel shim from coventrys. hopefully don't have to ruin a pair of scissors cutting it.
Turns out diff been apart before and someone used shim previously so will use that if need be. A magnetic bed surface grinder would be handy but..
Took 8 ton to press off the pinion bearing with seperator scared the piss out of me when it finally moved. Have polished down the id of the ol bearing to use to get roughly right.
The terrain tamer crownwheel is very filthy after heattreatment going to have to clean that up pinion though is beaut must be different material and/or HT process.
