I have a RRC 92 Vogue. Lately there has been several instances where the Car has been hiccuping and sand then finally cutting out. After which the Front Fan keeps running ( in front of the radiator). The only way I can rectify this is disconnect the battery - terminal and then attempt to start it again , which is usually does after a couple of goes. There has been an aftermarket alarm system installed which is not working , but if I press the kill switch it does start. Electtrics are driving me crazy as the Coolant low light comes on regularly but there is plenty of coolant.????????
Any ideas other than take it to an Auto Elect ?

RRC 92 vogue SE - Cutting out regularly

That sounds pretty bizarre.
The front fan is only on with aircon on or over about 100C. it is switched by the aircon relay or through the switch on the side of the thermostat.
If it stays on with ign off maybe the aircon relay is stuffed or the switch on the thermostat , but this should have nothing to do with restart etc.
What often happens with old alarms is that the relays inside die and get resistance. Is it a factory fitted Repeller alarm like mine? Mine does not have a kill button , but has a key to turn it off on top. If it is a Repeller unit, Repeller at Hornsby in Sydney can fix it. In any case the units factory fitted were NOT set up as imobillisers at LR request. If yours has another type of alarm then it is worth stripping out the whole thing, which is a bit of work.
You cannot just disconnect it if it is an immobiliser as the coil wire goes through it. You have to reconnect the coil wire.

I still cannot see any relationship btween cutting out, fans on etc.
However cars do funny things if the earths are bad.
I would next check and clean the battery earths, then look at the bunch of earths on the drivers floor near the ECU.
The only relationship with the aircon and fan is that the ECU gets a signal from the aircon thermostat to idle up on the stepper as the compressor turns on.
The fans are always on when the aircon is on regardless of whether the compressor is on.
low water light is controlled by a small ecu behind the dash which is separate from the main ECU. It could be that you reed switch is crook.
You can check this by just turning on the ign and moving the float up and down with the cap off.
