landcruiser cutting out

Post by esp22 »

Hey, my landcruiser diesel keeps cutting for a few mm...its as tho the whole car turns off and goes back on again for a short second...does this while driving..cuts all power including battery power for a few milliseconds then car continues as normal then it will do it again?would this be a regulator of some sort?

Thanks

which engine? if it is a 3B or 2H with an EDIC, chances are you have a bad earth or other wiring fault that resuts in a small voltage across the EDIC motor, causing it to cycle occasionally.

that might not explain the whole electrics cutting out though. maybe bad earth connection on the battery?

Drive during the day with headlights and other high drawing components turned off and time the cycle. Then turn on headlights, spotlights etc and time the cycle. If the frequency of the cutting out increseases chances are you have to find a bad earth. Start at your battery as dumbdunce suggests.

my 60 series with a 2H does the same but it is very irregular, might only happen once a month.

Its actually the ignition cutting out completely, not just the EDIC.

will have to get around to fixing that, havent bothered yet as its so irregular.
