"Bump travel" is when the wheel moves up; bump stops limit bump travel.
"Droop travel" is when the wheel moves down; droop stops limit droop travel.
The Pajero (I presume this is what you're asking about?) has a reasonably large dome shaped bump stop, mounted low, which must absorb any energy from a heavy landing, such as when the weight of the vehicle crashes down after a jump. I wouldn't cut the bump stops.
Earlier Pajeros (Gen 1 & 2) have two droop stops per side, mounted on the upper control arm. These are smaller dome shaped rubbers, and only need to absorb the energy of the wheel and hub etc dropping (with the torsion bar pushing too...) Pajero owners regularly trim these for increased droop travel after winding up the torsion bars; 10mm comes off easily, beyond that you should start thinking about low profile bolts and/or other mods. When I had my Pajero engineered, the engineer was happy for me to replace these stops with strips of 6mm rubber - which I haven't done.
I believe later model Pajeros (Gen 3 & 4) don't have droop stops like the earlier models - I believe droop travel is only limited by the shock absorbers.
