Gas all the way unless outside in high winds when welding. Even then I'd probably try to construct some sort of wind breaker and still run gas.
Obviously I'm not a huge fan of gasless though.
Honestly, if I was in a situation when I could only use gasless, I'd fire up my arc welder.

Hey Petrol, I know of a fab shop that just bought a water cooled Kemppi, they reckon it's the ducks nuts. The guy that owns the business told the shop he bought it off he wants it on the invoice as a pallet of grinding wheels........100% tax deductable, not having to wait for depriciation, so he says. Smart Arse.
I think he said they go for about $7000. Nice to be able to buy it through his own business, I might have bought something a bit flasher....If only I had my own fab shop.
Cheers, Dano.

Would have liked better/bigger etc - but this was simply the best my budget (wife) would allow...so far (one 15kg roll) it's been a good trouble free unit......
But I like the idea of upgrading the fan - as said cheap insurance.....

Well said - but I LOVE the unimig 240.Mick. wrote:I've got a Migomag 215 like the one above. We also use Migomags at work. I was doing some welding the other day with a Unimig (not sure of model) at a mates work shop the other day and I couldn't get a good weld out of it so i took it home and welded everything up with my mig.
The other guys there also hate the Unimig (ex panel beaters) and also think the Migomags leave the Unimigs for dead. After using both I see what they mean. The migomag actually makes a bad welder look like a pro.
For someone who doesn't need to weld every day I'm sure the Unimigs would be alright and there pretty cheap compared to the likes of Migomag but if you want something to last years that you use everyday then I'd go a Migomag. The ones we have at work are over 10 years old and are constantly being used and they never miss a beat.
They would be easily the most popular choice amongst Smash repair shops.
Cheers Mick.
I have a Migomag 260, unimig 240, unitig 200.
I have used the unimig 90% of the time (its at work)
I have said on here plenty of times How much i rate the unimig. I have run 15 rolls plus of 15kg wire, most at full noise for 7 hours non stop at a time and it loves it. I built 95% of the smurf with the unimig, and the 7 chassis and got these welds on the diff. It does require better setup then the migomag, but the digital readout makes it easy after a while.
I just think for the $1300 you could not buy better. I think the average joe would be better off with the unimig and $1200 worth of other tools (especially a miller elite mask) than the $2500 migomag 260.
my tig, full cage DOM, carolla ke70 400hp drift car
I also love my migomag (apart from no pre gas eerrrghh!!!!!!) but its for another bracket of user, with higher expectations.
ADHD Racing would like to thank

And I just can't think that the TAX dept won't find it strange and asking for it to be explained in an audit, why he suddenly bought $7,000 worth of grinding wheels.
