GQ 4.2 Idle problem-Fuel?

Post by CENTIPEDE »

1989 GQ 4.2 carby petrol engine. whilst driving around normally everything is great. But at idle it runs really rough, then stalls. I can keep it running at about 1300 rpm at traffic lights but runs rough. I'm sure it's a fuel problem but not quite sure what the cause is. Thought I'd ask if anyone else has had the same problem.

Thank's in advance

i had the same problem i took the air filter off then gave it a rev and choked the carbie with my hand and a rag to clear any blockages (but hold on to the rag tight) i done that a few times then poured some fuel straight down the carb and it cleaned it out it worked fine after that
