should i buy a nissan navara

Gday

im looking to buy my first 4x4 and am looking at a nissan navara,

basically im wanting any info on the navara and to get an idea if it would make a ood first 4x4. i have a budget of around 25k and dont want to be ripped off. i am looking at second hand. can anyone shed some light on what would be a good year to look at buying and am i being ripped off spending around 20 grand.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

id be looking at the 3.0 STR's, they were made from 02(i think) till 06. If it would make a good first fourby, well that depends on what sorta stuff you wana do with it?

the ZD30 powered ones where first made from about 2000. no idea when you guys first got them.
however AVOID the pre 2003 ones unless it has engine work done. just like the patrol the early ones are prone to blowing holes in pistons.

however there is also the 2.7 and 3.2 litre ones. most powefull ver is the turbo 3.2.

id defiantly be looking at the 3.0 TD version post 03 model. i dont really know what id do to it. most likly upgrade the suspension and tires. but not too much untill i really know what im doing. any ideas of what would be good to do to it to make it a worthy fourby

Is this your first car or first 4b?
Do you want or need a ute?
You dont need to spend $25k on a 4wd to learn in, which chances are if your young will want to challenge yaself, which will lead to body damage.. and for first car, maybe better off with GQ for under $8k.

Looked at a Navara while walkin past blackburn N today, had a massive bonnet scoop on it, but lookin thru it, didnt look like much of an intercooler. Think it was a 2.5?

hay.

its my first 4x4 but not first car. i need something decent coz i need to get to and from work and its not just a fourby fun car. im not planning on doing full on 4wding just camping and moderate stuff. in 21 and am looking at buying a car that will last for quite a few years and eventualy have a few rug rats in the back.

The nav will suit your needs fine if thats the sorta stuff you wana do.

Its my first 4by aswell..but i use it for a bit more then just camping

when i say just camping i dont mean just getting there i want to be able to some 4x4 tracks just not anything that may result in me rolling my new 4by. lol
im keen to get out there and i will look at buying a cheaper 4by to use as a real bush basher once i have replenished my cash amount after buying this car.

i have a new 2.5 turbo d22, intercooler on bonnet it goes and does all i will ever need to do. 700ks + per tank and there only $29,000 new, great value, have a good think, for an extra few grand , new car waranty,no hassles for 3 years never thrashed or beaten up, god knoes what someone has done to patch it up to sell, sometimes cars are like mudguards, shiney on top- shit underneath ,cheers.

they are a good reliable car. at work we have a fleet of about 8 and never any problems. back seat is a little cramped so depends how much room you need back there.

What sort of tracks tho? if you approach obstacles the right way itll go far, the rear lsd works great. Suspension lift/tyres and itll do a fair few tracks.

im not really sure. id like to do some good tracks but not to sure how i will handle them till i have some experience under me. thats not saying i wont give things a try but ill just be a bit more reserved than i am on my bike for the first couple of times so i can get used to my car and learn to read the tracks.

i think you couldnt go wrong with the navara mate

if i ever pull my finger out and sell my hilux this is what ill be after.My mates dad has one,great economy,tows good,plenty of power,good ride and its a nissan so they have to be reasonably tough.A moderate lift,tyres and bars on it backed with a locker or tight lsd would be great
