Is commentary needed at Tuff Truck?
Moderator: evanstaniland
Thats very true there is no way I could stand up there in front of all them people and talk for 8 hours or however long they do it for each day.Micka wrote:
Good commentary is an art form. The more these guys practice it and take on board the criticisms, praise and advice the better they will get at it.
I think they do a great job and the one thing that would improve it a touch has already been mentioned. If they could get more speakers then they wouldn't have to have the volume up so high. Other then that for amateurs that only commentate a couple of times a year they do well.
Cheers Mick.
my 2c!
Rick, Taps ...... and Damo do a very commendable job. They try very hard to make it sound exciting and informative.
My suggestions to these guys would be PLEASE don't try and interview the competitors at the start line, we are trying to plan our runs and go through checklists of things. AND at least give us 1minute after the run to catch our breath!!! Apart from that we will GLADLY chat with you guys for ages.... But here is another tactic that you could employ - while the competitors are waiting in the vehicle marshalling areas, maybe get some of the other drivers with a bit of time to kill to come over and help commentate on other drivers! I am sure fellow competitors can provide some really interesting insights to the other teams and how they are going on the course!! Other than that, get ready guys - not long now.

Someone like yourself would be a good person to do this, but not everyone has a voice, or turn of phrase that is good to listen to.

It is weird how some people respond to being put behind or infront of a mic, same as a camera. Some people just freeze. also you have to remember there is 4000 od people listening to what your saying.1MadEngineer wrote:my 2c!

Furthermore, the PA team and I will be making a trip to the TT site to see if we can solve a few more little issues that have been raised.
Rest assured, this years commentry and PA will be as good as we can manage. We are going right out of our way to make sure that its as good as we can make it.
I should just mention as well, the PA team dont receive enough props here, these guys put in some mammoth hours getting the gear in place and set up.
A big to Carl and his crew!
