I have recently changed trucks and removed the GME TX4000R remote head UHF to put into the new truck.
I have finished installing it but when I connect power to the main unit the remote head turns on even when the switch is set off. It displays channel 23 but all the controls are inactive, can't change channel or adjust anything else.
It worked ok before I removed it but now it has a mind of its own!
The power polarity is ok at the main unit, any help would be appreciated this is real weird.
Thanks in advance

Hi _Mitcho_,_Mitcho_ wrote:if you have it hooked to the battery the unit is getting power all the time, try getting power from the ignition, so once you have turned your key it will give it power and once you turn your car off it will cut off the power, hope this helps!
I am referring to the remote head unit on/off switch power is on regardless whether the unit is switched off, the on/off switch is overridden.
I think Crispy had one that did the same hopefully he can remember what the problem was.
Thanks
There isn't a lot you can do wrong installing it except maybe:
- Plug the external speaker into the alarm output socket on the back of the main unit
- Connect it to 24v through a dual battery system or have 24v truck and not realise it
Couple of things I would check...
Make sure you haven't bent any pins over in the connecting cable.
Could also be an earthing problem - Try isolating both the remote and main unit from touching any metal - dissconect the antenna when you do this but don't hit the TX button.
If neither of these make any difference I would take it to a repairer.
