How to identify how man lb your winch is?

Hey guys,

Bought a GU and it came with a Warn Winch, just wondering how you identify how many pounds the Winch is?

where abouts do I find that?
ive looked at the winch, on top of the bullbar its got a plastic black box with a W on it where you plug the conroller in
then behind the bullbar on the left it says release or something like that with a leaver and thats it.

There will be a plate on the actual winch with a model number on it.

The black box is your control box which has the solenoid inside it, which allows the winch to work in both directions. The lever that says release is your clutch which engages and disengages the gears in the winch. When you turn the lever, you should be able to spool the winch cable out.

Do you know if it works?

Is it a factory steel winch bar ???????????
If it is it will only be a warn 9000lb winch as that is all that will fit in that bar

or 8000 or if like RoldIT, a 10,000 if you mod the bar a little.

used to be a government car so im guessing its the 9000lb

I have a 12,000lb winch in my '99 GU coil cab. Fit no probs.
