Driving light switch

Driving light switch
I am currently on the hunt for a driving light switch (for a GU Patrol) and know what I want, just cannot find it anywhere.
I want a standard looking rocker switch with a driving light symbol printed on the rocker and for it to have a small blue illuminated bar or light when activated. I really don't like a lot of unnecessary lights on the dash at night as with the Sony stereo and Icom UHF you need sunglasses.
Does anyone have any ideas of a vehicle that I can salvage a such switch from, or know of an after market option? I don't want anything as large at the Carling style, and the standard Navra ones look crap.
- David.

I don't know what Narve switches you are refering too.
What you are describing sounds like a Kenworth switch, I know Narva make a similar one.

I went to Nissan and gor a genuine one for my spotties for $15.
Just make sure you get the correct one as there are 2. 1 for spotties and 1 for fog lights. The symbols on the switch are different. I will be getting the fog light one for my rock lights as the pic has the beam facing down.

An update for anyone using the search function in the future.

This place sells the Carling switches with incandescent lights in them so they will dim with the dash control and are available in blue like the ARB locker switches.
But I will be following up OTRANTW who have some cool offroad specific switches with the driving light available in blue.

Why do you need an indicator to tell you your Driving Lights are on. Lights musn't be bright.Dirty wrote:I am currently on the hunt for a driving light switch (for a GU Patrol) and know what I want, just cannot find it anywhere.

I use the Factory Nissan Switch that doesn't have illumination and can tell the difference in light output wether the spotties are on or not.
The switch is almost identical to the Narva illuminated switch, I use that for reverse/work light as I can miss that being on.

Re: Driving light switch
Fair point, and excessive light pollution on the dash does annoy me, but I am looking for a matched pair of switches to go on the left (of the steering column) with driving lights and compressor. This way I can get pair that are bling.LOCKEE wrote: Why do you need an indicator to tell you your Driving Lights are on. Lights musn't be bright.

Where does the factory switch mount?

Good find on the switches.
I stupidly let the kids loose in the car while I was working on soemthing in the back, (they know not to touch teh handbrake of the gearshift....so he wowsers can shut it) and they broke off the covers on my locker switches.
The switch still works if I put the cover on and turn it, but they fall off while driving and I just put them on to turnt he lockers on and off for a while.....until I turned on the headlights one night. The "dash" light inside them nearly blinded me.
ATM I am using a bit of silcon tp hold them in, but I need to replace them and ARB's prices are just stupid.
Again, good find

You can just buy the cover of the switch.Chucky wrote:Good find on the switches.

Anyway, quick question.
Anyone know where to get Cole Hersee switches, they look identical to some of the ones Narva carries ?
I saw some rotary ones I like in a Britax catalog, but I have no idea who deals with Britax.
