The Issues with the Trials were SORRA related and will in no way affect the SOT. And rest assured the Trials will be back next year.

if my lux is ready then ill be there to see how i go, looking forward to it.
if im competing and i pay 30 bucks for comp entry, do i still have to pay 50 bucks for a weekend pass?? i dont want to sound like a tightass, i just want to know whether entry is 30 bucks or 80 bucks for competitors.

In past years you have paid your camping/entry + competitors fee.

So basically;
Spectating/Camping for full weekend = $50
Camping & Competing = $80 per driver (not car!)

I don't own the Zook Clubsport anymore :cry:

I might go down for a trip and stay at the TLCC site. Showers :armsup:
Should check the rules and see if Mark can enter.

I "entered" the Lantra as a joke one year... Wonder if I can enter the Swift this year?? :D

Taken from the Nissan Patrol Club website...

The Son of Trials is meant for "factory standard" vehicles or those with only minor modifications normally associated with 4WD touring. Competitors will be split into two classses. These are (not surprisingly):

Standard - which means just that. Oh OK, we'll let you have a bullbar, towbar, driving lights and that sort of stuff, but you must have original tyres (or at least tyres of the original size).

Touring - for the modified vehicles. Modifications are limited to:

* Tyres - maximum of 33 inches - vehicle must have four of them which are required to remain in close contact with the ground for the entire event. This is real easy for us to check. If your tyres are bigger than 33 inches, either:

o change them before you come down to River island;
o take them off and run on your rims (not recommended); or
o our patented Husqvana tyre trimmer (a.k.a. chain-saw) will remove those pesky few extra inches (also not recommended

* Suspension/Body lift - we say a maximum of 4 inches combined. For those of you mathematically challenged, 4 is less than 4.5 or 5, so if your car is higher, think about it (or we could use the Husqvana suspension trimmer (again, not recommended).

Other Mods

* Diff Locks - if you have them, make sure we have some way of verifying that you CAN NOT use them during the event - we consider them to be cheating and their use results in automatic disqualification and a good spanking - so there!
* Non-factory forced induction systems or replacement engines (If you have one, well we won't take it out, but be prepared for a slap on the wrist etc. etc.)
* Fluffy Dice if fitted, cannot exceed 5cm x 5cm x 5cm dimensions
* Bead Locks - a real no-no Well make you run on bare rims if we see them.
* Hydraulic suspension, rear wheel steering etc- why are you here? Go to the Nissan Trials
* If you need to tow your competition vehicle onto the site, it probably means that it is not eligible to compete anyway, so leave it on the road and enter your towing vehicle.

All the tracks are easily driven by any standard 4wd without sustaining any damage. The Son of Trials is about driver skill and not how modified or capable your truck might be.

The emphasis of the event is on fun and the ability to introduce those who may never have been 4wding before to get out and have a go in their own vehicles.

The events are timed. Finish the track too early and you'll be penalised. Finish too late and you'll be penalised as well! So make sure you have a good navi who can operate a stopwatch!

Examples of the types of tracks from last year's event include;

Rocky Horror:
Driving on a rough, rocky creek bed through a tight course of witches hats and back up a steep dirt hill to the finish.

Stump Up:
A short track where you have to put either your front left or right wheels up onto tree stumps and drive two wheels of your vehicle along the full length of some big logs laid out along the course.

Can Swap:
Drive a figure of 8 course whilst your navi leans out the passenger window and swaps coloured cans in specific order between plastic poles stuck in the ground.

Watch Ya Balls:
Driving a tight bumpy course while not allowing the golf ball placed in a small dish on the bonnet of your truck to fall off.

Mud Hole:
As the name suggestes in involves driving through mud! At the same time your navi must knock golf balls off posts and then place them back on top again in order as you drive around the track.

There are 8 tracks in total and this year there will be 1 or 2 new ones to keep it challenging and interesting for everyone!
