Black smoke
Hi I have a 2006 hilux 4d4 motor and blows a large amount of black smoke especially from a set of lights. Cars behind me back off now cause of it. I have done the basics like air and fuel filter, valve clearances. Any other problems thanks
Nissan Navara D40 265/75r16 BGF Muddies,
it would be close to still being undr warranty? if so chase toyota.
sorry i'm not up with the common rail toyotas but there is a few things you can look for.
one is egr system is stuck open a bit.
the other is of the ecu learns the fuel pressure data.
some of the common rails learn the fuel pressure and when you do a fuel filter change it changes the fuel presure and it will inject to much fuel. you need to delete the learned fuel data. i don't know if toyota runs that system or not.
or a MAF sensor is failing.
