Re: roctoy ring lets see some pics
You know that the Roctoy ring is not an actual mount to the chassis right? You have to weld your own mounts to it as seen in the above pictures.brendan_h wrote:...... but how does it compare to others like the mighty kong?

as mentioned.. you have to attach the rocktoy ring to the mounts. other wise your defeting the purpose of having the ring pretty much!! You may aswell strenghten your mounts too (both the rubber blocks, the chassis mounts, and the transfer mounts).. cause these are the next weakest points that may fail. Seeing that your shifting the tourqe from the housing (cause your running the ring), the tourqe will then go to the next weakest points.. which i just mentioned. I put a section of angle iron in my D/S mounts, and followed the shape of the original mount, as for the P/S, i just replaced it with some tonka tough flat bar. then remember, to WELD it all together!

sorry mate.. yeah, nothing bad at all to say from me.. i'm running 35's, 6:5 -1, and twin lockers.. and its proven to be great! Although, i just finished doing more mods to the mounts, cause the bolt holes have been getting slogged out.. but thats nothing to do with the ring

maybe you shoudl find something better to do other than diminishing your own view of your own idaquecies and inperfections by concerntrating on others ;)[/quote]

Ive had one on mine for over a year now. Havn't had any issues with it. Takes a little bit of work to set it up initially, but the end result is piece of mind.
Here are the best pictures I have of my setup. Its setup to work with no bodylift or floor modification, and with the case clocked slightly to raise the low side. Because I dont run a BL, half way along the top side a wedge of the ring was removed, but I see this as being half way between the two mounts, hence permissable.
The long anlge mount is original, but rienforced; the top mount is 10mm steel bent in a press, then a long cut in it with the end of the ring welded on both sides of this plate. The skid plate on the bottom is completely seperate and can be removed. The base of the ring was trimmed slightly, and the skid plate just rests on the ring.
Sorry about the odd photo sizes, but photobucket is messing with me
