Maxxis Bighorns Info pls ????

I realise its probably been asked a hundred times but pls be kind.

What are the bighorns like on road. Are they excessively noisey and wear out quick or are they pretty good.

The reason I ask is cos I currently have STT's 265/75/16's which arnt that big untill you put them on a delica. They are pretty much stuffed so I need new rubber. Im trying to set the van up as more of a tourer so I want a bit smaller tyres and bighorns are one of the few that come in a 245/75/16 or 30.6 x 9.8. The smaller tyres would solve rubbing issues and make towing the camp trailer easier. I want to keep the 16" rims cos they have bead locks in them which can be handy.

So, do the bighorns make a good allrounder or are they crap on road??

I got them on the Lux. I find the're pretty good on the road. In comparison, I had MTR's before this and I found them crap on road, especially after a bit of wear.

The bighorns do make a bit of noise, but nothing like the MTR's did. And in 32" they were about $100 cheaper.

A mate has bighorns on his ride, mostly road use, theyre a bit noisey and so far have minimal wear, even in shail. Tread looks great even after a year. So far there my next tyre.

brother has them in 33x12.5 on a 15 " rim the lugs didnt last too long from 4x4ing (this is on a 04 jeep tj)

hey phil mate, i have bighorns on mine (33 x 12.5 x 15) see this is why you need to come out to Glasshouse lol.

I have got maybe 9000 so or more kilometers on my set now (8 months roughly). and they still have the sipping on all of them (sipping is the small slits to help in the wet) i havent rotated yet either i will be in the next few weeks tho, but with a 5000 kilometer rotation i think you would be getting better kilometers too.

they take abit to bag but my truck isnt exactly heavy. they are great in the mud, in places where my mate in his pootrol with 33 nangkangs couldnt get up it, i drove up it with ease. they slean well in the mud too in my opinion

They seem to be good on road mine have started to become louder but my truck is already loud so i dont notice them that much. great grip on the road, i find i dont lose traction so much in the wet compared to my old HT tyres. they track nicely too.

for the price and size i think they are a great buy. i do about 70 kilometers a day and i think it is a far better truck on road with these on compared to the HT i had (louder tho lol)

Bighorns are hard to compare as they have different construction and rubber compounds depending on the size you buy it seems.

Ive got them in 265 x 15 on a v6 4x4 courier
great in the mud

reasonable to good on road for a muddie

fairly noisey but ive heard heaps worse

wears been ok ive done about 20,000 on them (probably make 60,000)driving fairly hard

mate had them in 33's and says he got 85,000

id but them again for sure

price and value for money GREAT

ps I run maxxis on all my work vehicles both 2wd and 4wd (8 in total) I dont think they make a bad tyre in any model.

I run 35" Big Horns on my GQ and I love them. Wearing well, not too noisy for the great off road traction they offer. No punctures yet. Bag well on a heavy rig. Up there with the most aggressive mud terrains.

Next step up from Big Horn is Trepadore.

iv got them on my diesel 80 series and i cant fault them in any way and i dont find them very noisy at all they seem to wear quickly for the first bit then they seem to get a bit harder in the rubber compound and last longer
