Buying a Jimny 2000 or later? few q's and advice please

Post by Bingham »

Lads and ladies,

I have just finished doing a fairly indepth search on the Jimny. Everything sounds fairly vague.

Basic story is looking at helping my cousin buy one. Chose it over the sierra as more of a car than tractor comfort wise and will only do minor offroad and little mods...

some 2003 with under 100 000 km for about 7-9 as examples.

What i'm chasing is specif age/model info? best worst and problems/weakness's/rust and specifics to look for on the jimny.

Probly budgeting on 7-8 k spend then prob just flick muddys on and leave it at that for little trail and beach work.

Any help appreciated, not usually in suzuki forum, normally nissan but gotta help the cousin out  cheers

stay away from the g13bb engine. the m13 is a much better engine.

if you get a m13 modle carry a spare crank angle sensor they poop themselfs when they get hot and cut out.
If you want to off road it heaps stay away from the push button 4wd they get the sensor wire on the front of the transfer caught constantly and break the wire then no 4wd, other than that bullet proof
