35's on a Lux.
Hey all,
want to run some 35's on my hilux. Am currently running 33's with a 3 inch BL. Was going to put some extended shackles on front and rear.
This should be able to let me run 35's??

What about also running a spring block such as a 50mm block to put on the springs. Makes it then a 7 inch lift to run 35's, seems heaps to me.

I am running 2" lift in the springs, and Snake extended shackles and clear 35x12.5's on 10" rims fine apart from rubbing on the firewall, but moving the diff forward should be right.

my new lux i bought had a 4" body lift, 2" extended shackles, about 4" springs.
it could still rub 35"s. only just tho
If you can compress your suspension to your bump stops, having a big spring lift means fark all
35s dont fit in a hilux guard. so moving the front diff forward is a good option, aswell as cutting the guards

This is a budget project as I can get the 35's for nothing. Currently running 33's with a 3 inch BL, am going to get some 2 inch extended shackles soon. So what do I need to move the front diff forward? and by how much??

i havent done the front thing so not sure whats involed my surf is set up to run 35s
i have 2" body lift and about 3" spring lift runs 35s ok but the inner gaurd needs a big hammer job
the other thing is that 35s are very heavy and you would need to go to low ratio diffs i have 4.8s and i have problems clearing the mud out of my tires sometimes. so if u have higher ratios like 4.3 or 4.1 you will have power problems

I got 4.5 ratios atm. Will stick with them for a little bit until I can afford some GQ diffs and coil the front end. It's a modified 4-runner extra cab body on a single cab hilux chassis. Its in primer until I paint it 2moz. Is there much difference from 4.5 to 4.8 diff ratios if I run 35's??

It sits on 110km/h an hour alright apart from hills.

I don't care about how fast I can get it as this is my weekend toy. What type of lockers do you guys run?? was thinking about buying a spool locker for the rear and a lockright for the front I would lyk an air locker but $$$ wont allow me.

Dude I drove for like 5 years on 31"s and 32"s no worries.

in 5 years and that was when ALL the good tracks where around.
Havn't driven stuff that hard for years.
THEN
I got 35"x12.5"X15" Goodyear MTRS.
And in 1 year, I have broken 3 CVs already and counting.
Do the math.
Get longfields champ. Or don't drive undercut or vert ledges.
Although they break too (just ask Rhys MUD80D) but they are
ALOT STRONGER and come with a warranty of sorts.

I can't justify the $$$ to gte longfields atm. i think i might just drive it on 35's with the toyota cvs, break them, get new ones, break them, get annoyed then put a 75 series front diff or a gq front diff in it.

To move the front diff forward you will need to get your front driveshaft extended, get an adjustable diff locater rod, adjustable drop drag link, and probably do your brake lines if you havent already. I would leave the drive shaft till last obviously, once its all fitted just measure from flange to flange and the blokes at the driveshaft place will know how much to extend it. Thats just for re drilling the perches 35mm or so. If your gonna go 35s in a N/A 2.4 diesel i reckon your mad. Its a slug as it is what do you reckon 35s will do to it! I am going up in tyre size soon so am in the process of doing alot of work including fitting a later model turbo motor. An alternative to longfields is a new product from locktup4x4, stronger than standard Hilux CVs. Dont know exactly how much stronger but alot cheaper than longfields and they say on the site that they will handle up to a 37" tyre.
