The guy who dyno'd it does sprint cars and all sorts of race cars, apparently he had it at about 5500rpm and gave the throttle a stab and it tried to launch off the rollers, he recons they don't normally do that.

Nah, couldn’t be bothered going through the rigmarole of re-doing my engineers certificate. Besides, it goes pretty well off road as is and gets lots of road use in between, I can’t be bothered wheel swapping for off road so I will drive it as is.
I figure it will never be a rock buggy so why try to make it one — as is it is a good all round compromise, on road, off road, touring 4B.

john runs stock radius arms with the front passenger side bolt ditched for a quick release pin.
it is a very tidy truck.

Yep, what Wendle said...
It allows me to drive on-road with the front end restricted by the sock arms. Off-road I pop the pin and it flexes like a five link. Works well on a 'daily driver' when combined with a quick release rear sway-bar.

Sounds like it works well, it doesnt bind when the car flexs in the other direction. I was thinking of getting another radius arm and and cutting it in half and putting a pivot in it with a quick release pin, like the one on the D90 (landrover) site. It looks like it could have potential. Just need to speak to an auto engineer to see if this would pass though.

won't make much difference. the bind is caused by the arms trying to corkscrew the axle.

There is no binding in either direction on my rig but my castor plates are welded on, not bolted, so there is no bolt in the way to foul the radius arm on the left side. I use rubber bushings, pollyeurathane ones restrict flex and travel.
The diff is also braced accross the top for extra strength. Don't know what an engineer would think about my 'off-road set up' but they dont have to know about it. On road it is just a stock radius arm set up. I tend to crawl when off-road, if you crash and bash this may not be the way to go.

Forgot about the castor plates, as was thinking on my set up with only 2"susp lift on a swb. The front of the radius arm would hit the axle (if front bolt removed or rear of axle if rear bolt removed).
So removing a bolt for me wouldn't be all that effective, where as the pivoting arm doesn't have that prob.
As this is a modified arm it would need to be engineered for the on-road driving (it's a DD). Off-road I wouldn't really care as long as I know the welding has been done properly (old man is a boiler making - so should be able to weld such things).
