ticking sound? :S

Post by 4x4joel4x4 »

hi all

i have a 1996 paj v6 petrol 3.5 ltr

now there is this ticking sound when i am idle'ing it is just tic tic tic tic

and when i am going its mostly in 1st-3rd after that it dies of in 4th-5th gear

its kind of intamitant mostly after about 15 mins of drive

now... i just had it in for a $1400 service at mitsubishi thinking that they would know there stuff.

but the sound still seems to be there. so im guessing it isn't a problem or they would have fixed it. but all in all its annoying and makes me feel that the car is in bad nic so any one have any answers, would be appreciated very much guys.

also i had a look through the posts to see if i could find any matching questions but couldnt see any if any one knows of one link it please :)

Typical Mitsubishi V6 tick. It's from gunked up hydraulic lash adjusters, which keep correct valve clearances.

Nulon sell this awesome stuff called Lifter Free. It's about 10 bucks a bottle. Throw it in every oil change you do until it stops, took mine 3 x 1000km oil changes with cheap oil and then a bottle every change and it's 99% gone.
