82 lux what diff gears suspension etc for 36"
ok i am about to get an 82 lux for $200 and i would like to know what the best suspension lift, diff gears and engine conversion would be (i am thinking rover 3.5 v8). i would like it to be a bit of an all round rig so i can run some mud pits as well as climb some stuff
cheers Trevor

It was originally a 2.4d but i cant seem to work out the ratio from using
any of these numbers.

Have a 83 lux with standard diffs 4.88 and 35" tyres, seem to be a good match.
Also has a commodore v6 with auto.
Another mate had a rover v8 with 35" tyres, think it had standard ratios.
Always said how bad the fuel economy was.
Rears up front with crossova steering is worth doing. The gen1 luxs have big openings in the guards suited to big tyres
Cheers

this is one of the reasons that i like the early lux's and i was wondering if anyone has put 60 series diffs under one as i like the idea of a bit wider track for stability and stronger diffs for the 36's i want to run

what re you doing trev are you giving up on the zuk
60 series diffs would be wide and strong but you wont get the 4.88 ratios.
60's mostly have 4.11 diff ratios.
Looked into this when i built my lux.
My hilux standard centres have been good no breakages yet, not even a cv joint.
Touch wood.
