That is a very interesting point. If your vehicle has a fold down/removable windscreen, is it legal to drive around with it down or removed? I do remember from some time ago that if you where building a hot rod (which of course had to be engineered) the only way around not having a heater fitted, there for no demister, was if you did not have a windscreen. Of course this may have changed by now...

Might be legal to have a soft top windscreen down in certain places, wouldn't imagine it to be legal to remove it. I haven't looked in to it.
You will definately want some form of screen unless you plan on driving in a full face helmet all the time. Bugs and stones can be pretty painful.

Off topic but in QLD the only requirement is "forced air onto the windscreen" so a heater is not needed. A 12 ebay special "eletric supercharger" and some ducting works well for roadworthy daytassietoyuki wrote:That is a very interesting point. Now that you mention it a dude that used to contract for a while at my work had an old old old patrol or something like that and he didn't have a windscreen or anything above the door line. He drove with safety glasses on

ok a cage is only legal and only can be engineered if it is internal!!! external cages cannot be engineered as one of my friends has a sierra with a external cage and cannot get in engineered-NSW dont know about other states
u need a windscreen if it came with one, if it came with a sierra fold down one its legal to fold it down, as for doors(off the subject) only jeeps are allowed to take them off, they were designed with higher sides which keep your feet in a bit better than a sierra

Thats not a roll cage officer, its plumbers rack for carrying stuff. Has worked before. Though i was under the impression that you could get EXO's engineered. Didnt Redzook's ute and tin top have their exo's engineered?

You missed the point, if you have no roof covering occupants of the vehicle, ie a soft top, then an exo cages becomes a roll cage. An Exo is engineerable because the body of the vehicle is to protect the occupants not the EXternal cage around the body! A cage with no roof would need some sort of internal brace in the passenger space to stop it folding in during an accident or rollover! Once it intrudes the passenger space it becomes an engineering n adr issiue.

i recently got my zuk engineered for the 1.6 conversion, lift, wheels, seats etc and i asked the engineer if he could put the exo on the report and he said there is no need and that it is perfectly legal and just an accesory no different to a bullbar, snorkel etc therfor didnt put it on the report. He doesnt like them and thinks an internal cage is a safer/better option. But he was happy with how mine mounts, was removeable and followed the body line closely. Will see how it goes anyway, tie some shit to it and your good to go
