Why are there a lot of GU 3 litres with new engines?

Post by Playn »

I have been looking at 3 litre GU's and found a few have had there engines replaced especially around the 2000 model. What was the problem? Anything to look for. Thanks.

The ZD30 is nicknamed the grenade as Bogged has pointed out, They pull the pin at the factory and how far they will get is anyones guess. If you google Patrol 3 Litre im sure you will find heaps of info on the problems they have, even searching on here I think there is plenty about them

Pre 2003 ZD30 engines had oil feed issues. After 2003 there have been a few go but no where near as many.
Bogged is just jealous that he drives a 4.2 not a 3.0L so he bags them alot. :finger: :D
There are a few mods to do to the later models to make them more reliable.

i've heard the oil ways on the 2000 3.0d patrols would starve piston 2 or 3 of oil and bang!
