Decoding a Hilux VIN

Decoding a Hilux VIN
I've Googled and found several different VIN decoders, which kind of work, but all leave me coming up empty for what I want to know: model year.
The VIN in question is JT733LNA609038594.
I know the 33 means it's a dual cab.
The L is the 3L engine.
The N denotes a Surf/4Runner (? - I know it's a Hilux!)
The A is a model code.
The 6 is supposed to be a check digit.
The 0 is supposed to be a model year, but it's also supposed to be a letter, not a number.
The last five digits are just the production order.

Hmm. Either I'm putting in the wrong portion for the model code, or it doesn't work for that VIN.madmont wrote:put your model number and the last 7 digits into this form and see what comes out

You mean older than 89, mines a 89 LN106 and had a factory 3LTransplantCanuck wrote:That can't be right. The truck can't be older than 1991 if it has a (factory) 3L in it.madmont wrote:if you put in ln60 and the last 7 digits it tells you Aug 85
'89 Hilux Single Cab - 3RZ, 35" Kreepy Krawlers, 4.88's, F & R Air lockers, RUF, Longfields, TG Highsteer, Highmount and no money
I believe the L denotes "L" series diesel, 3L engine was usual for that era.wayno60 wrote:also where did you find the info about the L standing for 3l engine
e.g. LN### has an "L" series diesel engine but could be a 2L, 2LT, 2LT-E, 3L or 5L
91' Hilux Surf with the usual mods & a few different ones ....
