buy a 2.8 or grenade thats blown for $7-10k, fit it up, and have the awesome 12 second tourer WITH 6speed auto! Now THAT gives me wood!

would be interested to see Heath drive it on the road for a few weeks, see what economy he could get out of it.

Nothing like being beaten by a diesel. Did your oposition ask about your vehicle or drive off into the sunset??

Keep up the good work.

I love the last vid with the black commodore. You can just imagine what the driver is thinking at the start "I got him off the line, I'm gonna thrash him" then the patrol bolts past him and leaves him for dead!!

Bloody fantastic

more power

Post by heathgu »

Yeah there is more power to be made, we are just working our way up to the perfect tune. The factory CP3 (common rail pump) is said to be good for 600-650 rwhp. So we have plenty of fuel, boost is going to be the problem with the standard turbo. We are running 31-32psi at the moments.

Also the tune that i am running at the drags is the one i run on the street, so i am trying to run as little smoke as possible.

Most of the yanks run massive turbos so they need massive fuel to light them (make boost 50-90psi). Plus they love smoke, it is all about the smoke to them. They love nothing more then having it smoke like a train.

For fuel economy i am seeing around 15l per hundred around town. That is moderate-hard driving, i still cant just drive it normally . I dont do many highway kms, so i cant really give figures. I would think if i built a economy tune and was able to drive it sensible i could see 11-12L on the highway quite easily, with around 300-350rwhp/220-260rwkw.

Next test and tune we are aiming for a 11sec pass. But will see what happens.

Didn't realise you rig was on here mate, would have stepped in earlier.

Haven't looked at the nissan section since I sold mine - thanks to rosey for pointing it out.

All I can say is the power this thing makes is just unnecessary!

I don't think poor little Sippy Downs was ready for what was unleashed last drive!

Lighting up the tyres in every gear and I can only compare its speed to that black Torrie at Bluey's (11 sec) or our 7. But its a way different type of power, so much torque, and uses the box way more due to the low rev range! Time you get an ANDRA license!

Mate I can't wait to stage against you in the buggy, maybe I shouldn't tell you that or you'll pull my herbs back with your EFI live.

As for the traction - Those 36x15.5x15 radial claws I had were hard to beat. It would only lift the front left with them on - anything else would spin. I wonder if a stickey set in 33's could be had from somewhere - Ryano perhaps?

keep leading the pack

cheers bru

Probably more like 19-22 secs.

GTR will still beat it but not by much.... and imagine his face as you do it carting some big lengths of timber and a ladder on the roof!

They have problems running hot (In the GMCs, they also have gearbox issues)

Other than that though, they do make big horses, and are probably more reliable than a grenade!

Hey heath, this is an awsome post mate. Ive got a gu ute aswell (gen 3) and have 310bhp and get 16litres per hundred with the stock wheels or 500k's per tank. Im going to supercharge/turbo intercool it soon. And should have about the same bhp as you. Do you think ill get better eco than yours after its supercharged? :) ive worked it out to im $5.20 a tank better off as it is now.
