what engine

been playing with my 94 wt serria for to long trying to make things fit. so want to go to standed or something a can buy kit for and bolt stright in. been try to get a toyota 4k and toyota 5 speed to fit but over it. so what i want to now is what else is the engine in i can get hold over serria box for $450. but having problem getting engine. because i live in tasmania and no wreakers got any. any help would be vary good. trying to stay on cheap.

This might sound a bit better now and i am assuming that you are after a zook motor so i would suggest a swift (i think there is a holden varient as well but i cant think of what it is at the moment but it is just a rebadged swift) or you could get a vitara motor or put a toyota 4AGE in it ( or if you dont want the hassle of EFI just get 4AC/4AFC)

Maybe an old Barina? Think that was the same model as the swift a while back....

MB or ML barina or SA swift you will need to change sump and pick up.
MH or MF barina or SF swift you need to do sump,pickup and camshatf change over.
My experiance 2nd hand motors arnt worth the hassel, put them in and 3 months later be in the same boat. Save some money and get a reco

Apart from the direction they face, what is the differance between a Swift/Barina motor and a Sierra motor?? Why would'nt you just buy another Sierra motor??

1.6Turbo volkswagon diesel.. yes u can buy a complete adaptor kit from states.. lol

i would go 1.6vit.. but your going to need to save a whole lot more! average conversion is a whole lot more than $450, usualy work out what its gona cost u and X2, then u will haev a close number!

i would not buy anything mechanical from any wreckers anyway. my mate paid 450 bucks for a diff centre and after a week of drining the rear pinion has twice as much as mine did with 270 000 on the clock before i replaced them.
another mate bought an auto for his crummbledoor and it is farkd. have been told that they get evrything fixd to the bare minimum so it looks all nice and clean when it leaves them to fall in a heap.

you can run a ml mb barina or sa swift dizy so long as you keep the housing for it. They run real close to the fuel pump but fit, though you can use the same fuel pump as well the intake size on the pump is slightly smaller just clamp it tighter.
Your biggest prob is finding on that is in good nic they were made round 1985-88 as wanndy said wreckers can be a pain , though referancing a crapadore isnt a good example but zuk is. all sierras and swifts are getting old near imposible to get something good.

How far in to this are you? Excluding wiring, fitting a 4K and fitting a 4a series motor are not too different. If you have modded your jackshaft and have engine mounts sorted then I would buy a 4age and have at it.


Alternatively, find a wrecked vit and transplant the engine from that with an adaptor from BenT off here. As far as conversions go, I think it's fairly straightforward.

it was actually the 1.9 VW engine and I don't think the kit is made anymore and hasn't been for quite awhile.

as mentioned, does that really make sense to you? Seriously, sit back and just read what you have written. Pretend you are like everyone else out here who hasn't got a foggiest who you are, what you have or want. Now read what you have written, do you think it makes any sense?

You don't need to be the world's best speller or writer but a little time taken reading what you have typed before hitting the submit button will go a long way.

Also have you had a look through the bible section as there are some pretty good threads about alternate engine applications.

The end of the day from what i read of the question for $450 you get a standard motor and nothing else.
Conversions cost money, partic if you have to pay someone to do them, currently im doing a G16b with bb jimney injection, complimented with type 3 baleno injectors, h/d clutch extractors reco gearbox and air lockers front and rear, new wheel bearings front and rear and swivel hub bearings and seals replaced.
By the time the conversion is complete it will all look as if the car came with injection from factory but the owner would have spent the best part of 10 grand.
They all come with diaginosis and never had one of them break down. $450 wont buy anything thet will be remotley reliable so stick with a standard setup.

i put a 4AC into my 89 WT . it took me a couple of days to do the conversion (i did everything myself) and found it very very easy.

i got the engine and gearbox cheap ($100) and sourced random bits i needed off ae86dc forums. by the time it was in and running and i had sold my original motor and box which was still good, the conversion cost me $30. the 4AC makes about 20% more power and it feels like 3x the torque !

if you can locate yourself an AE71/AE86 or its drivetrain cheap as a donor you will have more than you need for the conversion.
