Looking to buy a 97/98 Disco and was just wondering what the general opinion of these are...

Also any hints on what to look out for would be helpfull...

Spoke to a my mate who has worked for L/R as a mechanic for years and his only thing to watch out for is a clogged radiator. Some may have a noisey T/F case but even thats nothing to worry about. Just look for one with a full set of books :P

Only had my 98 model a couple of weeks and loving it so far. Nicer to drive than a patrol i think. Bit low ! departure angle isn't too good, and they drink fuel but fuel is hardly a big cost compared to depreciation etc.

They are a great ride but a fair bit thirstier than their range rover counter parts .. Off the top of my head you would be looking at 20L/100K around town vs 16L/100K on the range rover.

Strange Rover has a '96 V8 for sale that is a neat car, would buy it myself if I had the $$. PM him and he can give you the details, might even get an Outerlimits discount :D

Thanks for the info guys. I have to say that it will be a far cry from the Feroza although I will be sad to let it go.....

But keep thinking 'bout things like cruise control, leather trim and V8 power and suddenly makes letting go of the Feroza so much easier.

Really want to look for something post 98 with less than 100K kms on the clock. Saw one last week an ES7 with 58,000 ks for $23K. Seems real cheap to me.... am having an inspection done to it.

Have heard about the fuel consumption but seeying as I work about 5 k's away from home it won't be a drama. Really just want it for the long trips.

Will be getting a 2 inch lift as soon as I get it and going one size up on the tires to get it to sit a bit higher... I agree that they are a bit low sitting....

Cheers
