flipping patrol diff

Post by killalux »

Hey all

anyone know whats involved and what sort of costs in flipping a GQ front diff.
We need the pumpkin on the left hand side. It also has to retain all the factory nissan steering and suspension components (mainly trailing arms, panhard could be modded.

or does anyone have a better cheaper option for a left pumpkin front diff.

Don't wanna say the reason for doing this yet, secret squirel :D

yes strength is a factor. At this stage we are leaning towards a custom adapter to use the patrol transfer case.

Not wanting to give it away at this stage untill we know what we are doing.
But it is a new process transfer case we are replacing. The adapter plate should be the same as the allison auto, And i know where i can get one of them, will just need an output shaft made up then.

Yeah, that's been done, turn it 180deg to the flat 'top' is on the bottom, run the air shifter to change high/low. Done! works quite well!

There was a guy down south who was doing GQ housings flipped right to left too...

Try Cheezy or one of the Nissan specialists in Vic.

surely it wouldnt cost more than having a diff shortened?

in this case the axle housings are just being cut off and swapped to the other side of teh diff, so no axle shortening/resplining involved..
