problem again!! flood inside the car after raining
Hi all,
I have just ask a question about the movi of the used gv I just bought.
Now I have another problem.
I parked this car in front of our place these raining days.
This morning I found the mat in driver side is very wet, then I found there is about 1 cm flood.
I took off the mat and dry it by clothes.
I also took off a plug underneath.
However, I dont know what to do with that flood or leaking problem.
I searched with google, some people said the flood may come from different reason.
it may from air con waste water pipe leaking.
The seal of doors.
Some where sheet broken.
But I am not sure thich one is most possible.
I know the previous owner had a small crash before, but he said just a small dam on front fender and bumper.
I am thinking I should complain to him or I should go local dealer or mechanic to fix this problem?
This car is 2005 and the warranty has expire already.
Any suggestion or advice?
I feel so bad about so many problem I had for this car.
Cheers

It sounds like car flood inside is quite common in lots of car?
But is there any easy way to find out the leaking or flood problem?
Because I did not have a trust mechanics so far, I am worried if the mechanics will ask every cost they want if I did not know what makes the flood.
Or I should stay in my car and leave car under rain?
In fact, I have drive this car during so shower, but nothing happen.
I guess there must be something wrong after I send this car to replace the new tyres.
Any replacing tyres process will course the flood problem?
Cheers

Try putting a good layer of talcum powder on the bare metal floor and above it where you think the leak may be. The talcum powder sticks to the surface or leaves a trail when it gets wet, and the dry stuff usually blows away in a day or so.
I think you may have a good opportunity to check this out over the next day or so:

George Carlin, an American Comedian said; "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise that half of them are stupider than that".
I assumed he meant a Grand Vitara. But I don't know actually.bj on roids wrote:whats a GV?
I am not familiar with that particular car but if there is a lot of water in the passenger footwell I'd be looking at the air intake for the air conditioning etc, which might have a blocked drain or similar problem.
It could be the a/c waste water pipe being clogged up if that is also a drain for the incoming air, which it sometimes is.
This is not legal advice.
Colinwen, i'll explain this one for you. In order to find your leak, you need to simulate rain, so you can then get in the car and find where the leak is.mkpatrol wrote:grazza wrote:You will need:
1. tap
2. hose
3. brain
Put your car through an automatic car wash - this works.
or, put a sprinkler on your car, then get in the car to find the leak.
Windscreen seals can be the cause a lot of the time, door seals are notoriously bad for leaking (i have a 5mm gap in one of mine), also holes/split grommets in the firewall can funnel water into the cars interior.
Thanks for so many kindly people's reply.
I think I have some idea and not so panic as beginning.
Yes, the used car I bought is suzuki grand vitara, sorry for unclear at first article.
Because I just a new oversea student here in Australia, I am not familiar with these specific term for car.
And sorry for my poor English express as well.
So far, I reckon I have to start with cleaning the mat and dry it first.
Then I can find out where is the leaking or flooding problem.
Thanks for all.

they must not have cars or rain where he is from... which one is it??
not 2 hard to find the leak get in it get someone to hose it(or dont u have a hose??)
next if you cant find the leak or its too hard to fix all you have to do is::
pull the carpet out, paint the floor black and have no carpet.-problem fixed ay???
then when it rains just pull the plug out and your water is gone!!
i have a 94 vitara soft top..-soft top leaks like a hose turned on. thats what any normal person would do
oh yeah you didnt forget to close the window did you? they are clear glass-they stop water comming in

YES, I accept that some people like to give me some difficult time, maybe just because I am a newbie here or I can not use English like aussie.
I believe some people tease me can make them feel above me.
Yes, I have very limit knowledge about vehicle so that's the reason I come here.
Before I ask any question I believe I have research many thread on different website try to find out by myself.
The feedback from many people just like the mechanic I met in Townsville.
I can not understand the particular term did not mean I am stupid, yes maybe not smart enough.
I still believe most of the member on this forum is willing to help others.
I wish I am not wrong...
