H1 Hummer rear caliper - interchange with??
Bit of a long shot but does anyone here know if the rear brake caliper on the H1 Hummer is the same an the brake calliper used on any of the full size Chev/GMC pickups??
AFAIK, The H1s had an inboard brake system...not sure whether they fit on any commercial vehicle, although logic would tend to go that way.

Hi Thomas' dad here.
My 88 humvee also has the handbrake operating the rear pads the same as your Hummer.
AFAIK there is no alternative to AMG parts. There have been posts on the Humvee.net forum re replacements from other sources but no one has actually come out and had any definite info.
Grand Cherokee disc pads are similar but need slight modification with and angle grinder to get them to fit. As to the suitability of the pad material to a Hummer who knows.
I have rebuilt my rear calipers with a seal kit from Southwest Supplies in WA (http://www.facom.au.com/hummer/hummer.htm)
Price was reasonable and they posted them over within days.
Your best bet would either be Ebay or one of the many websites selling hummer bits for replacement calipers. Calipers from WA would be expensive.
Email me if you want the names of suppliers I've dealt with.
