Hi All
Has any one played with advancing the timing on a cam, or retarding it for that matter. What effects did you see from doing so?
I have just put in my new cam into the 3.9 , the roll master timing set allows for advancing and retarding. The cam is set to the spec sheet that came with it. Before I close it all up im wondering if I should leave it as is.
Any insight would be appreciated.
TIA

Cam Timing on a 3.9
"All the parts falling off this truck are of the very finest British manufacture"
mine is a 3.9 that has been stroked to a 4.7 lt with the Dynotec 216 at 4 degs advance mine has unreal torque down low and the over take / kick down is great as well , i tow a kimberly camper a lot down south and just got back from up north without even a hickup . I run the haltec e6x with a thor manifold gmh injectors and fuel reg and with the ecu doing all the advance on timing and control over fuel i have bucket loads of go pushing 35's . i had a piper cam prior to the dynotec and the difference i found between the two was the piper was too hi range sorted where as the dynotec was just the ticket . i sat on 120km towing the camper back from Halls Creek without any drama's and pulled her up thru the Canning without any dramas {mental note must take long piece of wire for removal of spear grass next time }
