They should be labeling them as 35's. They are obviously just doing it to scam people.
this bloke above you has the right size.
Anyone that sells a product thats 35" as 37" is bordering on fraud.
Why label them 37 when they are 35?
Was it a mistake? If so, the OP should get a full new set and maxxis will want the tyres back so they can figure out where THIER labellibng mistake was made.
I have heard in numerous threads that tyre sizes vary, but to call a 35" tyre a 37" is by definition false advertising, and borderline fraud.

my 35" on 10" rim are smaller than the same tyre on my 8" rim . the rims do make a difference to the overall height , (mine are claws ) just as the 10" rim mounted tyres sit wider than the ones mounted on the 8" rimDAMKIA wrote:Rim width will not affect the fact that the carcass diameter is only 34-35"AUSDOG wrote:thats hurtn! i'm about to buy a set of 37'' creepys. what width rim are you running?

they cant change the length of the belts in the tread, therefore they have no bearing on the tyre size.blade 929 wrote:my 35" on 10" rim are smaller than the same tyre on my 8" rim . the rims do make a difference to the overall height , (mine are claws ) just as the 10" rim mounted tyres sit wider than the ones mounted on the 8" rimDAMKIA wrote:Rim width will not affect the fact that the carcass diameter is only 34-35"AUSDOG wrote:thats hurtn! i'm about to buy a set of 37'' creepys. what width rim are you running?

If your belts could stretch at all, the tyre would explode at 100km/hr.

my mudzillas are undersize as well. Bit annoying...il have to buy the 37's to get a true 35

Tetanus rolling on 37's
I guess it depends on where and how you measure them. In the first pic it looks like you are only measuring to the start of the side tread and not the big lug which is in line with the rest of the tread, where as with the simex youve take it from the end of the big lug.
As someone said before, you will need to measure them side by side to see the difference.

It would be fruad if every 37 measured as 35s but thats not the case as few members 37s measured are 37s. There might be a small batched that were label wrong.Shadow wrote:

To measure tires correctly, you need a special tool, its like a large set of verniers
As said, measuring them that way is not 100% accurate, but then, it shouldnt be 2inches out either.
If some measure 36.9203023984023984092384023984039284 then its hard to complain
Tires do change size on rims, plenty of threads saying that tires are 'crowning'. Narrow rims cause the tires to crown eg pull in the sides, causing the center to rise. Check Johns Maxxis Creepys how the tread isnt flat across them.

Get a bike tire off a rim, and push the beads together the tread will deform a little. you can try it with a 4b tire, but they maybe too strong for you to flex.

Take the wheel off the truck. Pump itto the recomended pressure (about 25 to 30psi) then measure it.
To measure it lay it flat of th ground, push it up to a wall and then place straight edge parrallel with the wall touching the tyrein the centre of the tread.
Now measure from the wall to the straight edge.
I bet if you all do this the tyres will still be under size but it will be a lot closer.
You can not measue it on a vehicle as the load on the tyre will compress it some depending on pressure and load.
So unless you have taken the wheel off the truck to measure it then your measurement isn't acurate and will be small. The phot's above that should the tape by the lugs are a waste of time and all they should is the side wall hieght.

Re: my new 37" maxxis are only 35's
I tried to measure my tyres, but I couldn't get my girlfriend to lie on the grass holding her sewing tape like you did. Good work.matto wrote:i took a measurement today of my tyres because i couldn't tell the difference between my new 37" maxxis creepys and my old 35" simex.

My 40" Baja Claws are exactly the same height as my 42" Iroks were. I don't know which tyre is correct size though.

Sure it isn't one of those tapes made for fat chicks??? So they can say "I only have a 35" waist!"
Of course guys opt for the tape that overestimates - so they can brag about the size of their .... (tyres)
