I have a 61 that has been a fantastic truck for me since I have owned it over the last 4 years.
It has about 330,000 on the clock, and has run like a dream over the time I have had it.
I change the oils and filters every 10,000 but that is about it as far as maintenance goes.
It is all factory with no modifications other than a K&N, 2.5" exhaust, 2" TJM springs and a set of 33s.
Not wanting to sell, I want to do the right thing by keeping it in top order and have booked it in for a "inspection" in the next week.
I want to get the best performance out of the old girl, so need to ask the service guys the right questions. I trust their opinion, but need to learn a little so as to know what to ask for.
Can you recommend the types of things that I should be discussing with my mechanic?
Mark.

Service recomendations for a 61 Series 12HT

I'd be looking at changing the engine oil and filters at the recommended 5,000km. Although if your getting regular oil sampling done and are happy with 10,000km so be it.
Start with a general visual inspection of all components. Obviously if there is a leak, that needs to be addressed. Look at the oils and fluids. Coolant, brake, clutch and power steering. Look for any type of discolouration.
Diffs, gearbox, transfer case and engine oils will be checked. Have them note if the Gearbox is low in oil and the transfer is overfull.
Belts, hoses. Conditions?
