G'day all -
I have 5.12 gears fitted to a new 4 pin sierra carrier that I bought yesterday, and i am having a lockrite installed as we speak.
THe problem is the pins are no longer retained by the crown wheel, as it is narrower. I know there is a ring that I could buy from lowrange that would do the job, but are there any other ways of doing it? One bloke said that the pins can be centre punched on the inside so that they don't slide out, he also suggested doing a spot weld on them. I don't like the weld idea so much...
Any other ways that you know of?

Diff pin retainers - Any other way?
i had the same problem when installin vitara 4.6S to a sierra centre. i had small groves machined into the pins and then inserted 4 small circlips that hold the pins into the centre. the groves were only very shallow as to not affect the strength of the pins and i had no problems with this at all and i was running hardened rear axles on that setup. i also tried the spot weldin idea but this gave way very easily. good luck with it.
