Coincidence..(regarding blown fuses)

Post by simcoe »

Hey guys
talking bout a gu tb45 here, about a week ago i was leaving the job site and the drivway to this place is nearly vertical, bout 50m long..anywho i get to the top and drive down the street and notice my revs, speedo, fuel and temp gauges arn't working..!
so when i get home i check the fuses and the 10amp Meter fuse has blown..! Replaced it and all good! Now this morning leaving the job(got rained out) i get to the top but in reverse this time(had no room to turn around) and again i notice that the same thing has happened..

Iv had the car for 2.5 years and it's never happened before!, let alone at the same job a week apart! I had done plenty of driving during the week as well and for the fuse to blow again at the same place is abit spooky :?

any idear's

thanks

put a bigger fuse or a nail in it she'll be right..

you havent added in anything that runs power lately have you maybe you tapped into the power wire for your dash cluster.. try the next size fuse other wise if it blows that you have a problem..

With or without trailer, and have you added extra lights to the loom?
If so, this is common.

Is the "steep" driveway that steep your motor is under heaps of load, heaps of load = extra engine mount flex?

You might have a wire bared and touching when the engine moves that extra little bit under heavy load

Best way to test, replace the fuse at night, and start pulling on wires in the engine bay, you may see a spark if your lucky or at least hear it

thanks for the tips lads,
nah i havnt added any wires to the loom since i put some small reversing lights on well over 12months ago..
no there was no trailer being towed..
me also thinks maby it's body flex or something or that nature!, but it's never happened while forbying..! :?
if it goes again i may try a 15amp fuse and see how it goes!
although that job will be completed tomorrow so it may never happen again.lol

thanks again

put in a resettable circuit breaker that replaces wedge fuses, IF thats the type of fuse you have, then it should be as simple as turn off and back on the lights

fuses have certain ratings for a reason. they are there to protect the wire.
if you start putting higher rated fuses in then you might end up melting wires and possibly starting a fire.

never really a good idea to "just stick a bigger fuse/nail in it"

you will find its a wire rubbed through and is earthing out, check all the gromets in the fire wall, where the looms run into the dash etc, my guess is tail lights,

come on move over and let the 75 through
