How do I tell the differance between a 2b and a 3b.

I gave the engine number to my local toyota dealer and they weren't much help.

Where abouts in the block?

It has a 2b sticker on the rocker cover but I bought a 2b water pump and it didn't fit. How ever, a 3b did.

So I'm not sure of what else to check to be sure.

its cast onto the block..

front of the engine is on the left, rear on the right.

so under the intake manifold towards the back on the block.
