My Australia Day weekend at LMP

My Australia Day weekend at LMP
G'day all, i am an Outer Limits 4X4 newbie who would like to share his Australia Day weekend at Landcruiser Mountain Park . My name is Blocka, i'm the one you see cleaning shower's and toilets, and doing ongoing maintenance at the park. I have been doing this for Alben and Helen for many years now, they are truly great people to work for and they care very much for their staff and visitors to their park.
SUNDAY 25 JAN
Early morning cleaning of all toilet/shower blocks.
Cleaned and got portable toilets ready for COOPERS STADIUM
Replace shower curtains(ripped off rails)
Replace shower rose(broken off)
Listen to complaints about (noise, fireworks, dangerous driving, doughnuts etc)
Catch and talk to a DONUT DOER
Brekky (Yeah! thanks missus P, always great)
Go to fill water tanks (SHIT, NO PUMP)(I guess someone needed it more than we did, THEIVING PR@#K)
Back to get a spare pump and fill tanks.
Another DONUT DOER
Clean shower's/toilets(appreciated all the mud on walls, ceilings and doors)
Replace broken toilet seat
DONUT DOER
Clean rubbish (bins and camping areas)
Clean hill climb area (1 1/2 hrs, not very hard to place rubbish in bin or in your vehicle)
Pump out shower water from holding tanks.
You guessed it DONUT DOER
Another shower curtain (same shower cubicle)
Another shower rose
Another DONUT DOER
NOT EVEN MIDDAY YET
This is not at all exagerated, it is actually understated so as not to bore you.
MONDAY 26 JAN
see SUNDAY plus add, pull up young child driving on main park road (responsible parent).
What i am trying to say is, that this was the worst weekend for idiots i have seen at the park.
I truly feel for the families and to the visitors who come to have a fun time and have to put up with this behaviour.
To these people, please come again.
To the idiots and theives, STAY HOME (we don't want you at the park)
Cheers

Hi, Alben and Blocka, My mane is Chris, Now i have been going to the park for years now, and love it, think you guys do a wonderfull job and i dont abuse the park.
However ( i know this got sorted not long after) but, when i was heading back from cowa falls after a nice swim, my mates dual cab lux broke down, i towed him from just outside cowa to tekka, wich was our camp. Upon approaching that camp site i selected 2nd gear low, and i have crawlers, so thats pretty slow and proceeded through the bottom end of the camp ground, come to a bunch of ppl, so i slow even more, the i get asked to stop quite rudely.. Then from there my afternoon got worse, i got grabbed through the window of my truck and pulled towards the window, i broke free, then proceeded to get grabbed again, this time i grabbed the persons hads so i could not be hit, then he was joined by his accomplace in an ARB uniform, with with swearing and abuse towards me and my mates.. Then got out of my truck still in a daze as to what was going on, and more language was thrown ect ect... And all this was happily fueld by other drunken idots from our camp ground saying we did it, it was them...
They were looking for a white hilux duel cab, on split rims with a mud sl*t sticker on the back.. I have a white SINGLE CAB ON 35's on FLIPPED RIMS, WITH NO MUD . STICKER... wtf. Now as much as it was said that i wouldnt have gotten hitten ect, if i didnt make an attempt to stop this i believe i woud have.
Now it was all sorted out shortly after as we confronted the ppl that did it, appologies were made ect and all is good now, but this could have turned very sour very quickly if i hadnt have thought quickly, it totally stuffed the last of my 24 hour stay.. I was doing nothing wrong, doing a favour and towing slowly back to camp then get greeted with that shit..
It will not stop me going to the park, it wont make me wanna trash the joint like that 10% did, and i wont think differently about the place, but i would like for the owners/caretakers to just pinpoint the real problem not the innocent ppl. No hard feelings Alben... I will be back as i love the park and its facilities.
Cheers, Chris Jenkins.

Why is it that LMP is the only park I go to that has rubbish every where, it's because they let fools get away with it, Bloka you need to get everyone to police it by telling you who is doing it and then ban them but make sure you get the right person very hard to do.
As individuals we can do our own bit and not make the mess in the first place or at least clean up when you leave, I have worked at events on the park and had to clean after the drunken bums that left their empty bottles and cans everywhere, also I a competitior I have seen them do it, I always take my broken sh*t to a bin
Time for a clean up day at the park, I can bring a car trailer and I can fill it 3 times with rubbish in the park, I have done this twice in Glasshouse Mts last year and came out with 15 trailer and utes full

If rules were inforced
If the people who were doing the wrong thing were addressed by the owners of the park, at or very near the time they were upsetting other campers who are complying with the rules and just having a good time then maybe a lot more guy's may even start bringing their wife and kids, and your park would be seen to be a whole lot more attractive to families.
some key reasons; 1 we don't feel our kids are safe within the camp grounds, re; the speed people travel 2 broken bottles 3 the lack of respect as some people have very young children whom only sleep at night 4 generally you end up with a lot less running cost due to people being more responsible. this is just my opinion.ps hope you catch the thief, and who ever damaged property.

sounds like a broken record, my first time at LCMP was Aust Day Weekend and i am so glad it was just me and my 5 yr old as it would have been hell with the whole family, drunken hoons hooning through main camps from dawn to dawn, yes 24hrs, lucky i daidn't have any mates to back me up other wise i too would have ripped someone from their hoonining vehicle and punched the crap out of them, their is absolutely no excuse for hooning through main camps at any time, no kids life is worth it. My 5 yr old was running around chasing grass hoppers for his habitat thingy and i had to watch and control it as the hoons just kept hooning through the camp, and even hooning closely to tents, vans and parked cars, just plain stupid. I hear that these problems are new to the park and i hope so as it will take a couple mens trips back there before i take my kids and family.
Possibly LCMP is getting the hooligans that used to gop to black duck valley, if this is the case it's no wonder black duck is closed now and good riddence if they support that kind of behaviour. I only hope LCMP management nip it in the but imediately before they too end up the same way.

In defence of ("The owners of the park"). I wasn`t there for Australia day but I know for a fact that Alben and his crew spend most of thair days dealing with twits who have no respect for others, themselves or property. They can arrive disguised as humans and have 2 beers( that they prompty throw out the window) then turn into oxygen thieves.Everyone has been young and done stupid sh!t but where are the people who know these perpatrators? haven`t they got any balls to slap a dickheaded mate behind the ear?Whaldo no disrespect mate because i have a family too but unless you think the orgnisers of the park have superpowers there is no way of knowing when something is going down. These problems extend far beyond lcmp.Mates need to look after mates and not be afraid to pull them into line when he or she needs it.The reason parks have thair appeal is that you are isolated.I do feel for the campers, Mabey there could be a single or a couple sites left aside for familys alone? Too difficult to police I guess. One thing is for sure mate Alben and Helen would be well aware of the running costs and the feasability of talking rules into dickheads without pulling thair arms off.I`d near bet Alben`s tried that!!! lcmp would not be an easy operation to run.People who trash the joint forget that this is Alben and Helen`s home!! Sorry to go on a bit but this crap gives me the rage. Billy

Inya Racing..
Have a Look in the rules on the Map It states That you can Camp Anywere on the property but in the storm season not advisable around creeks.
If I take the Familiy Up for A Busy Weekend we Find a Nice Place away from All this And just come in to watch the Events. If you Look around when your Driving There are heaps of Areas to Make Camp. On weekends that are busy you only see a few cars drive past & this isnt to far from the major Camp areas (for the use of toilets & showers if you dont have your own) But if you Do there are Thousands of Acres to chose to camp. Lcmp Dont make us Camp @ the major camp areas.
I dont think The fact That these People are not using Common sense is the Parks Fault. But If they were reported or Court Im am sure Management of Lcmp would deal with it Appropriatley.

Landcruiser Mountain Park would have to be the most favourite place for our family to camp, whether it is for competition or just a club weekend with friends.
Helen and Alben are awesome people and we are grateful to be able to share their 'home' with them on a regular basis. We respect the park and ensure that we drive slowly around the campgrounds and take our rubbish with us. A couple of years ago after a big weekend we were driving around the park and noticed there was a lot more rubbish than usual laying around the more popular areas of spectating, like club rally circuit and the pig pen. I approached Helen and Alben about our club doing a clean up weekend to help them out and they appreciated the help. We had around 20 carloads full, we all had garbage bags and spent the whole day cleaning up. We couldn't believe the amount of rubbish we collected, bags, bottles and cans. Even the kids made comment of "how hard is it to throw the rubbish back into the cars where it came from". We finished cleaning up the area to drive back later and find beer bottles that were still cold from the drink and ice block wrappers and cans. Helen and Alben and crew work tirelessly cleaning up the camping grounds of rubbish that people are too lazy to put in the bin and sifting through fire pits for broken bottles and burnt cans. And this is on top of the other maintenance of the park like cleaning ammenities and pumping water to tanks so we have the priviledge of hot showers and flushing toilets.
We can't stop all the d*ckhe@ds doing the wrong thing in the park but if we see someone doing the wrong thing we can tell them and report it to the office if it is seriously dangerous. Landcruiser Mountain Park is and will continue to be our favourite family destination and if there is a clean up, COUNT US IN, we will be there with bells on.

Just enjoy the 4x4 parks and what the south east of q.l.d has while you can because in the future there will be no where to go Because of these fools....And its been happening up there for some time now..middle of the night cars flying through a camp sites and through the day while kids are ridding or walking to the toilets...And drink driving is getting big...

Re: If rules were inforced
We have all been young once? Are you pointing the finger? I think its pretty naive to assume that all the hooning and f@#king around till 6am in the morning is prodominantly young people, i did attend LCMP on the Aust. Day long weekend and i have to say i was pretty appalled at the behaviour of a lot of the older guys with kids in their cars doing donuts, driving wrecklessly and hoiking their rubbish wherever they please. These guys should be setting a good example, what hope do we have of the newer generation of four wheel drivers acting responsibly when this shit is going on. I dont think there is an obvious way to stop it from happening, all those of us that have some respect can do is continue to treat the park the way it should be and hope that it will still be around for us to enjoy in the years to come.In defence of ("The owners of the park"). Whole heartedly agree on the clean up trip, great idea.
Ln65 single cab
the thing is if you see some one doing the wrong thing take down the rego number and report it so that they can keep an eye out for the culprit and then it could be delt with then if they are cought more then 1 or 2 times maybe then that car could be banned or diciplaned.
if it aint forced it wont go
you know what, i started to write rego's down but no notes as i thought each issue was going to be isolated, then i began to realise this was not the case, then i started to take more detailed notes, then i got a disgruntled look as i was too obviously trying to read reg numbers etc then i realised i was going to be busy with this all weekend and got too risky, time consuming and was rewening my weekend even further and ended up in the too hard possibly dangerous basket.
I really was quite over whelming in the end.
Still had fun and majority of people were behaving, but the minority still had numbers due to the amount of people there.
I must say though, we didn't have many of these ideots in our camp (the first main one at the falls) and so wonder where they were actually all camping. (the ideots that is)

Hey Chris, I can understand your frustration as I saw the whole incident with you when you came in to the camp ground. I also understand why everyone was so uptight. I was camped right beside the guy in the ARB outfit and he was rightly pissed off as his kids were playing and the D@#K Head in the hilux with the mud Scanas sticker on the back came flying through the camp grounds well off the car tracks crossed up in between two trees just missing one of the trees.if the car clipped one of those trees he would have been through our campsite. I was at the back of my car and yelled abuse at him and gave a nice gesture and everyone came out of there camps and were talking about it as everyone was pissed with him. As for the litter bugs I guess everyone just has to stick together and start reporting people. And the theives and I was talking with other people that had stuff taken from their campsites aswell !! If they get caught we should just horse whip them !!! lol. And unfortunatly the donut doers I cant answer that but after the barrel races saturday night I think people just asumed it was ok to do donuts there as every time i drove past there was groups there doing donuts there. I know that does night make it right but even I thought because so many people were doing donuts there that someone had approved it. And no I still did not do any but I can see why first timers etc would think that it was ok to do them there. I still had a great weekend with my wife, Friends and family
I'd like to write this on behalf of albin and helen and all the staff who work there arse off to make this park possible for us all! I work the main events at LMP and each and every event (MBM and off road expo) there is always the morons leaving rubbish, doing donuts and just making a complete nuisance of themselves! I don't believe it is just up to management to help control and get rid of these wankers. It is up to all of us! Helen and Albin run around like headless chooks making sure every event runs smoothly aswell as trying to maintain a safe and enjoyable park! At MBM there are thousands of people and thousands of complaints! Helen and Albin are only two people trying to run a family business they can't do everything, so it is up to all of us to do our bit and pitch in to help! Confront these people, take number plates and tell them you are doing so! There isn't alot we can do if they don't listen but hopefully if we all get together to help stop this, these trouble makers will get sick of people at them all the time and pick up there act or rack off all together! Cheers everyone who works and contributes to making this park a great holiday destination. Bree :o)
i too have had a weekend somewhat marred by a 2 groups of campers that wanted to be arrogant pricks all weekend. i don't mind people drinking and having a fire and fun but fireworks at 2am and stealing firewood from us really left us peeved off. and one of the groups of people were competitors in the comp we were watching. they are on this board and frequent lcmp a lot but i won't mention names as this is not the place for it. it was just disapointing that these people really went out of their way to be pricks and they should be the people setting the example, afterall we were only there to watch the comp, and spectators are what make comps afterall. no spectators no sponsors.

yeh m8 i understand that too... still not the best thing to be going on late in the arv when you dont even know wtf is going on, one minute driving along nicely, next minute getting ripped out of my car almost then get told it was mistaken identity.. however im keen to forget this so long as it dosent happen again. And i shall return some time soon to have yet another enjoyable wheeling holiday...*cruiser* wrote:Hey Chris, I can understand your frustration as I saw the whole incident with you when you came in to the camp ground.
Cheers, Chris

I love cruiser park and think its the best place to put my truck through its paces! Regardless of what you drive you can have an awsome weekend. I always take my rubbish and do the right thing. I am curtious to other campers, to the point ill crawl through a camp ground so other campers dont have to choke on dust! (as comming from a farm in the middle of surburbia dust is a pet hate of many people)
I too love/d the big events at cruiser park, May day, MBM etc etc. Its all well and good to say "we all need to pull together and approach these people", sorry, People full of piss are un-aproachable, All this does is puts you, your camp, your vehicle and hell sometimes your safety in the firing line! Very very rarely do they go "Oh sorry mate"! Its more "Yeah f### Off Mate" They seem to get the shits and go on a rampage. There is only so much Diesel, camping gear, food etc im willing to have stolen again!! I am at the stage where i just dont go up for the events anymore. So until security or police and curfews are put in place ill stay away from the events. Sorry but you cant put a price on peoples safety! It only takes one incident to destroy a great weekend or even a life! Then it will be another case of what happened to black duck, no insurance company will want a bar of it. In terms meaning the closure of an Awsome park!

Blocka I hear what you are saying!!! Ifeel sorry for you, and what you had to put up with.
I have not been to LCMP for a while (2002) and if I remember rightly, it was Oz day back in 2002, when similar acts of drink driving resulted in a roll over and a serious injury (or death? not sure).
A curfew on night driving is the only way to go on these family orientated weekends. I was camped at cowra falls campground. It was great to be woken at 2am with d***heads going off for a druken 4wd round the campground and park. If you want to do that sort of crap then dont camp in the main camp areas, leave them for the families.
I agree that it seems like the thick, dunces that frequented BDV have arrived at LCMP! My advise get on top of it quickly before you loose LCMP like BDV. A few deaths here and there, changes things awfully quickly! Good on the owners at Rover Park for controlling and maintaing a superp park!
I wont be back for another Oz day at LCMP and neither will many members of my club until some decent ground rulles are created for weekends where high numbers turn up.
cheers

G'day and thanks to all who have posted suggestions for the few problems we are currently experiencing at LMP.
All ideas are looked at and evaluated, but as you can imagine it is not so simple. Do we have so many rules that each and every visitor must read a rule book and sign to say they agree to the terms? Do we have curfews for night driving? Do we issue every visitor with rubbish bags and (a detailed map & drawing of how to place it in a bin when full)?
I think we are getting away from what Alben and Helen set out to accomplish. A friendly 4WD park where anyone can bring their fourby's and have fun testing their skills against the terrain.
Bring your families and enjoy fresh country air and camp amongst the wildlife.
You have the freedom to camp nearly anywhere on this massive property, which many campers are now choosing to do. All we ask is that you do not leave any rubbish behind.
When out driving in the park or watching comedy acts at the PIG PEN, just take those few cans or stubbies back to your camp or place them in a bin at a camping area.
If everyone leaves a LITTLE rubbish behind it ends up a LOT.
Hutch, come back again and say g'day, 2002 is too long. There have been many changes to the park since then.
P.S
To the campsite of hoons at Cowa campground last weekend that i talked to.
Thanks for all the rubbish and crap you left me to clean up.
I guess you got me back.
But just remember (I know who you are, SO DON"T COME BACK)
P.S.S
Congrats Jen and Festa, all the best.
Stop crying you big sook.
Cheers

Just a suggestion of putting all offending number plates/and names on a banned list on a computer , then upon checking in all that has to be done is type in the signing in number plate/ name and if it appears up on a search from the banned list then do not allow entry .I know that this will cost money for a small computer but surely it would help in other ways as well in frequent flyer card discounts etc etc etc .
Just a thought .
