Buying GU. Help.

Post by big_al_31 »

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade to a GU Patrol soon and i'm just wondering if there is anything in particular i should be looking for when i'm buying.

I'm after a diesel model 2000 on. I'd like to get the 4.2ltr but i know Nissan these are hard to find and a fair bit more than the 2.8ltr, how does the Turboed 2.8ltr come up power wise?

I heard that i should stay away from the 3ltrs between 2000-2003, is this true?

Are there any particular things that i should look out for?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated

There is a pretty impressive 2.8 GU on the DVD with the latest issue of 4WD Action #130.

I mate had a 2.8 and he loved it, even towed a car trailer with no problems. It would have to be pretty good too, as my 4.2L was a bit of a slug.

As always, drive before you buy.

Honestly, there are 100 threads asking this.. People with 2.8's love them, and hate them. Have a search around in the NIssan section.
Theres some good engine conversions with them too...

Heres another place to look
