My UHF radio transmits but no sound

Post by ORSM4B »

Hi guys l have a problem with my Uniden UHF radio as it transmits but no sound, l think it may be the speaker inside the mic, can you replace the speaker or just replace the mic.

Cheers Chris

Firstly, to clarify the problem:
Transmits Ok, can be heard by other ppl? Y/N

Recieves, but cannot hear the sound? Y/N

There is usually the option of a 3mm socket for an external speaker. Buy an extension spkr and see if you can get sound from that by connecting it. Mount it later in the tailgate so you can hear it when outside the vehicle.

May be a broken wire in the connector to the mic/spkr. Should not need a new mic/spkr unit unles the unit has been mishandled (dropped/drenched)

I would try and obtain another mic first.

Most brands of radios now days have removable mics. If its a fault in side the rdio, it will have to go to a tech a repair. (If its worth repairing)

You could have a faulty cartridge in the mic or a cable fault

How old is the rig?, is it under warranty.
