x9 superwinch are they any good ?
As the title says are X9 superwinches any good or should i go a new premier or secondhand warn any advice would be appreciated.
One all so far.only asked because i was going to buy a new premier winch for $1500 but im having trouble justifing that sought of money for something i will very rarely use when i could spend it on something else on the vehicle and i can probably get a new superwinch for half that. But if the superwinches are crap then i will stick with a premier.
Buy a used Warn XD9000 for $600 and spend $100 on a service, and never look back.thomo wrote:One all so far.only asked because i was going to buy a new premier winch for $1500 but im having trouble justifing that sought of money for something i will very rarely use when i could spend it on something else on the vehicle and i can probably get a new superwinch for half that.
If your rarely going to use it, then almost any winch will do...

....the premier is like a mercedes....the superwinch is like a deawoo.
you get what you pay for at the end of the day and if you were to see a cutaway view of both winches you would not go anywhere near a superwinch. (is very scary......just look at the 4 lovely self tappers that hold the superwinch gearbox onto the frame)

its not the motor end you have to worry about....its the crappy load bearing gearbox end.thomo wrote:But for the same money i can buy a new x9 i know there not as good as a warn but it is new. And from what i have read i can update to a warn motor later on.

Acording to 4wd Aust mag the premier winch is the best one you can get has good drain holes and a fully sealed gearbox so water hardly ever gets into it to rust it out etc etc.thomo wrote:One all so far.only asked because i was going to buy a new premier winch for $1500 but im having trouble justifing that sought of money for something i will very rarely use when i could spend it on something else on the vehicle and i can probably get a new superwinch for half that. So if you had the money for 1 you might be best to grab 1.
Read the same mag (worth a read if you are about to part with big dollars)zagan wrote: Acording to 4wd Aust mag the premier winch is the best one you can get has good drain holes and a fully sealed gearbox so water hardly ever gets into it to rust it out etc etc.

The premier blitzed every test they threw at it, the most impressive was when they totally submerged them all, the premier was the only one dry inside when they took them apart.
