Big Red was heading up last night so was probably sitting in the camp grounds when he posted using big pond wireless broadband. you will get phone reception, but usually it aint much... telstra is usually the only decent carrier out there... you might get lucky with optus tho

We're just about to leave... or were. An update if/when anyone can would be great as to what's happening. I know most people are down there now so should we come down anyway? What are the conditions like at the moment?
Ok enough questions from me, it's too early lol.

We drove up last night, turned off the road headed for the shed in the main camping ground and got the truck bogged about 20meteres short of that. Ginger snatched us to better ground. Unpakced the truck, was told it was cancelled. Packed the truck and towed it too the road with the hilux. Put it away agian. Drove home.
Got to Bed after 3:30
Edit - Forgot to mention that the front drivers tyre on the Truck blew out at about 80km/p on the way home! Dad did a GREAT job to hold the truck on the road. It's non-power steer. Could have turned so much worse so quick!
Hey Ben thanks 4 the heads up... got up at 330 to leave n thank-god u txt me.. so when is it on?? when will urs b goin?? ooh n i promise ill b ur biggest fan hahah!!

I knew something was fishy when I saw comp trucks going in the other direction. Nice 3 hour morning drive.
I should have checked before I left but I thought they would never cancel Tough Tracks. These guys are real men.

Unfortunately the competition had to be postponed from this weekend due to the rain. the decision was made in an attempt to presere the park from 2-300 cars driving on what were very sloppy tracks. I wont confirm weather i was in favour or not of the postponement but if you come to the meeting on Wednesday ill let you all know
No date is set in stone as far as i am aware but there is a general meeting this Wednesday at which i am sure it will be finalised. I will post up the new confirmed date Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
A lot of ppl spent a lot of money getting out there for nowt, but then again the comp would have suffered in those conditions. It's Jan and Owen's park and I'm sure they would have loved to see it go ahead but they made a tough decision by the sounds of it and I respect them for it. It's those type of decisions that make that park one of the best around, they truely care about the condition of the place.
I for one will (if I'm free) certainly be up there for the rescheduled event. And I have no quarms about driving out there last Saturday morning.
(Especially with two young kids, the rain sucks)

We have to respect the properties we are using or we don't get to go back.
Black soil country get messed up badly in the wet.

Thought I would put an end to some speculation. Jan and Owen only told the club what the weather situation was and what rain was expected over the Friday night and into Saturday. With that information the tought tracks club made the decision to call it off. If it was up to Jan and Owen they would have called it off on Friday afternoon but it was left up to the club. In the end it also cost Jan and Owen a lot of money as well in food that was for the BBQ that was in the end just given away. I am like everyone else who went up there for nothing but at least we will all get a better crack at the comp when the conditions are better. Wouldn't have wanted to be at the back of the pack had it went ahead last weekend.
