front windscreen

getting new windscreen fitted to my patrol but before i do i want clean up some surface rust that is around the screen so what is the best way to get the screen out has anyone done it

any ideas

Talk with the windscreen guy your using.
If he is often in the area he might be able to do 2 visits
for no / or little extra $$$.
1 to remove and come back later that day to fit new screen after
repairs are completed?

thanks jwb but while i'll was fixing some other spots of rust up i thought i would have it out ready too go but looking at the rubber looks like that is stuffed too

get a lenth of piano wire, use a knife to poke a hole through the ruber in one section and poke one end of the wire through, tie it to a peice of wood or something on boeth ends so you can hang on to it and with a some ehlp use it in a swaing motion and you can cut the rubber away and push the screen out, then just peel the left over ruber out and go for gold. while some people try and re use the old rubber, its recomended and best o replace the rubber when you replace a windscreen, so go for gold.

just push on the screen and it will pop out, esp if your rubber is no good, clean away all surface rust (oh and dont worry you wont smash it the rubber will give way before the screen does) then get new screen, insert length of rope or obtain a small screw driver, start in one corner pushing screen back into car and if u use rope cross it over in the other corner of the seal, then just pull it till the screen pops in, if ur using a screw driver slowly work your way round pulling the lip in on the inside of the car. once you have that all done jump back on your bonnett with some sikaflex if your rubber is no good because if it looks cracked or mangled chances are its gonna leak like a bitch when it rains, so hit it with some sikaflex (not black silicon but sikaflex) and then bobs ur uncle

if your not keeping the rubber or windscreen you could just cut the rubber from the outside place blanket on bonnet and safety first glasses and gloves and push old windscreen out
if it cracks and splinters of glass come off you dont want that in your eyes
but the other ways ppl have said are correct too but imo safety with glass is important

thanks guys i ended up cutting the rubber out and windscreen just fell out so getting a new windscreen and rubber
