GU 2nd battery tray

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2nd hand ARB battery tray but the bolts that came with it are too small for the captive nuts in the top of the LHS wheel arch.

Does anybody know the size of the required bolts so I know what to ask for down at the nuts n bolts shop?

I don't remember any such captive nuts?

There are two in the bottom of the tray that need to be drilled in the upper inner wheel arch.

Two holes drilled in the inside lip at the top of the try which has nuts on a bar that are provided by ARB (these are M8)


Which nuts are you talking about? Have any pics?

There are two holes already located through the top of the guard. I thought they must have been original with captive nuts below but maybe they were drilled by the previous owner? The two holes in the bottom of the 2nd hand ARB tray line up exactly with the holes in the guard.

So if there are no captive nuts below the holes in the guard, how do I secure the battery tray to the guard?

There is a anodised bar about 40x5x300 that has captive nuts on it which slides in between the inner and outer guard. This is part of the kit for the battery tray. You need to remove the indicator to put the bar in behind, its a bugger of a job.

So the inner guard ones have the bar as mentioned, if someone previously has chosen to use captive nuts then re-use these and I would assume they are metric and the ARB ones are M8

The ones in the inner wheel arch are just holes through and ARB provide M8 bolts with large washers. A washer under the nut&bolt heads and another as a spacer because the well isn't completely flat.

The ARB bolts are zinc plates and around 30mm for memory.

The inner guards have a hard enough time with the support/brace bar.
The nuts will just rip out for sure.
