3.0 engine stuff, have any of you guys delt with ACL and RPW
I was wondering if any of you guys from Aus had experince with any of the ACL products.
I am rebuilding my genII 3.0... and decided to go with the ACL pistons. Tought to find monty pistons in the US, and these seem to be pretty good quality.
What about their gasket sets, how complete are those. I think I will get one depending on the price, but I dont want to have to run back to my mitsu dealer each time I am missing a gasket.
What is the reputation of there bearings. Clevite is the top over here, but I dont know if ACL's are the equivalent version. If I can get all the stuff from the same place, thats awesome.
Lastly, Racing Performace Works.
Bishi knows my beef with their distributers. They put like a 200% price markup on all their stuff once it gets to the us. It isnt RPW faukt, they seem to be a top notch company. It is the race shops that buy the stuff that have been marking it up.
Can any of you guys get the price you would pay on some of their products.
I was looking at the interference headers for the montero 3.0, 93 6g72. And the cams for the same engine, with the valve springs.
I would be willing to give a fee or a precentage of the order if some one could order these for me and ship them. It would still be alot cheaper than getting them in from the states.
Thanks guys,
Cheers.

Dougie, I haven't heard that much about ACL to be honest- sorry.
However we discussed RPW on Trail Talk and I'm happy to ring them and get prices on what you want. Just give me a list of what you need.
I've only heard good things about them and I think Dave Thomas is ok.
Also I'm happy to get the stuff for you (if you send over the $) but remember that shipping will be a killer especially air freight. The t/case's were around $250 US each to ship air freight (3-4 days) to give you some idea. Then you have duties, import taxes etc at your end as well.
At least a certain person won't give you a hard time here about RPW

How much did the shiping on Lloyds 5.29's run? I figure they will take up a similar amount of space. What shiping company did you use? I will look into it though, there may be other shiping options that take a little longer. I dont need the headers and cams to rebuild the engine, they can allways be added after the fact.

Would probably be quite cheap to ship them sea-freight but they would take an age to get there. I know a mate had some Chev gear come sea-freight from the US and it arrived about 3 months after it was sent . There was a holdup through Customs and I think at the time there was a major wharfies strike so that wouldn't have helped .
