A Brief & Broadbrush outline for you -

The future of this sport is FAMILIES - & should be marketed & promoted as such & as well to corporate companies as a High energy, visually spectacular SAFE family based event, with alot less focus on the Esky Comps or the Alchohol & Crackers in the night.

In my opinion Tuff Truck also needs to focus more on the Competitors - we spend alot of money to get our rigs to the event each year with little or no recognition from outside opportunities this needs to be addressed in the future - so Tuff Truck needs to attain them better opportunities through sponsorship - better promotion through Radio, Tv, Press, Promotional material ie in show bags handed out to every spectator - for example like a full A4 page on each Team, truck, driver, navi & sponsors - so as to attract more sponsor deals for each team etc

The Direction needed for Tuff Truck & its future is A SAFE & FRIENDLY FAMILY ENVIORMENT, with INNOVATIVE & OR CUTTING EDGE VECHICLES that are easily RECOGNISABLE to both the public & potential sponsors alike so as to attract the larger corporations like Toyota, Nissan, Jeep, Suzuki etc to throw some money at our sport.

Lets not forget that Tuff Truck is a business - and all business need to be profitable or they get shelved.

& Just for the record the reason i had the Bandage Bear Truck Built was not only for Charity's & Promotions but mainly to COMPENSATE FOR MY LACK OF DRIVING SKILLS!

However this is just the tip of the ice berg, i have been trying to write this whilst my newborn daughter has been crying & needing nappy changes etc.

Happy to Elaborate more at a later date!

Regards

Mark

Ok you got your posts mixed up - negotiations was mentioned in the heated response to your post.

Yes i did edit & delete some imformation, once i saw your retraction & your later post to DRS.

I'm sure in your PM to me, you mentioned that you didn't want me to discuss TEP details & or current negotiations on this forum.

The only reason your house got a phone call from me was to show respect to your partner, and to let him know that i wasn't happy with your personal attack on me & to let him know i can't just sit back & Not respond.

PS - Happy to further discuss with your partner in the AM, in the simeltaneous deletion of some non productive & valuble time wasting posts

yeah families might be a useful target audience....
however.. (there is always a but)
if you look across the comps marketed towards families more directly, such as willowglen, trials abit and others.
they dont draw the crowds. they have an atmosphere that is no where near as energetic in the crowd.
why is that?? the same rigs are basically at trials as ttc. the locations are similar...

because the mix of a few drinks, the mud run and the band/disco later gets people keen i think. im happy to stand corrected on this, but from the comments i get from people this is why they all go to tuff truck.

when very few are running factory components the day when car companies put money into this style of event wont be anytime soon, and as rigs get more advanced and run less stock parts the likely hood of it decreases each year i think.

Hi Guys,

It disappoints me to see all this unrest.

I think that your personal negotiations are you own and business people don't usually air this sort of stuff on a public forum.

This is not doing the sport any favours.

It is good to see discussion on how TT can be improved rather than personal attacks.

Just my opinion.

DRS you can't compare TT crowds to Club based events. TT is the Summernats of 4X4. You get people coming to the event that sort of like 4wdriving but really just want to can on and run a muck! The crowd at Nissan trials or Willowglen are more club based. They have come with there kids and want to see the mates compete.

TT needs to be held at Eastern Creek or the like where you will get more people coming for the day which will make the sport grow as its easier for the general public to access it.

Combine it with WE rock and some TV coverage

You need the trucks to look like something the crowd drives like in V8 supercars. Under neath dosn't matter as long as the body shape looks right

As a competitor i like to know i'm doing battle with the best trucks around ( bring it on Mal,Phill Pete and Mark ). And as a guy who takes pride in how my truck looks ( SUZZYQ ) I feel that as long as trucks start the event looking neat and tidy with a body that bolts to a chassie and they have tried to keep the original look of the car's make than it's fine by me. Also as a panel beater I love it when i get to rub my fresh sexy paint on a huge rock or to submerg the whole side of my truck deep into the mud. IT's what we are there for rubbing's racing. Bring it on. PS after 23 hours in a spray booth this week putting some new paint on it I can't wait till the friday night stage to scratch it.

I reckon Tuff Truck is doing a mighty fine Job as they are.. So I say leave it be. Why change a combination that is working???

They have a great location, awesome tracks & massive crowds every year. It is one of very few events that is actually working. Not every event is going to satisfy everyone.

Maybe its time someone else or another group of people take a similiar style event to eastern creek ( as suggested or elsewhere ) & start off there own ideas & ideas that they dont like about TT. Then we'll have more events to drive at.

Truth is that until someone goes to that massive effort & huge expense. It'll never happen.
I'd love to do it but dont have the $$ or time to entertain the thought at the moment.

No doughts they are doing a great job. Its the 4wd biggest event in the country but like everything there is always room to improve the business. That is where my comment of moving it too Eastern Creek comes from. It would draw more people in and grow the event but The actually outlay to do it though would take a long time to pay it off.

Not many people have the time, money, etc to do that sort of thing which is why most events are small scale or club based.

Pete, your comment is appreciated.

I've mulled over the moving of TTC to Eastern Creek several times, have investigated it but I'm just not convinced that it would do justice to TTC. Part of the reason that the crowds come to TTC is that there is the bush/camping element which allows an escape of the ratrace, so I think the Milbrodale site is still the best place for TTC.

However, I think there is prospects for other 4WD related events at Eastern Creek (I'm working on one at present but not comp). Something like the buggies run on the biggest-FO man made courses (like what is seen in the US) either in a rock-crawling or rock racing style. Attach some big advetising dollars and promote in a similar style Crusty Demons on TV etc. There's people still keen to see the buggy thing happen and this would be the best prospective opportunity to make it happen and in a big way.

Fair enough, but at the potential risk of TT moving to Eastern Creek & it not working out the first year & potentially jepordising any future TT's. due to too much money lost experimenting.. yes maybe in the future when TT is cashed up they can dabble into other areas.

You would have to view it as a totally new business venture as it is too far away from its current infrastructure.

It could only happen if TT was in a very good position money wise either with a very rich sponser or if the event had turned over enough dollars. I think Sam Overton had the right idea with WE rock at powercruise and grafton. Its the need to get new people to the events which would give you the growth.
As Podge said though there would be downsides, the biggest would be actually making tracks to do the trucks justice. Milbrodale is great for that.
It would be awesome to go to supernats or powercruise and see an buggies driving some awesome man made coures

I have a nice shot of you watching a freshly painted and sexy looking Scat rolling down a hill. Did you enjoy that one too?
Is that like the simspons where Homer is BBQing the pig and it gets lauchened by Lisa " its still good' its still good, its gone"
I was just so glad that look on Ants face was captured. He put soooooo much into that little rig!

That is where my comment of moving it too Eastern Creek comes from. It would draw more people in and grow the event but The actually outlay to do it though would take a long time to pay it off.

Not many people have the time, money, etc to do that sort of thing which is why most events are small scale or club based.

The event that Sam O orgainised at Grafton i think was one of the best and most exciting comps i have been too espeacially the final, when we were all racing around it was heaps good.
I think the crowd seemed to like it aswell. But as for TT i say leave it at Milbrodale it is awesome to be in the bush and the terrain would be too hard to match plus TT has done so well the previous years i don't think it needs too much in the way of changes, maybe just some minor improvments which they seem to do every year anyway's.
Bring on TT09 can't wait!!!!!

What about more to do at TT, eg

Dyno runs
Self drive track
Use of the travel ramp (gold coin donation)
Jumping castle,kids stuff etc
More exhibitors in alley
simulator, etc
Just ideas to make it more of a event
