anything is possible. the problems you will face are things regarding the ford motor. i was talking to the Ftruck wrecker in redcliffe and he will sell one of the motors he has left for like $16k but that is it. no new motors coming in. the new motors cost $50k and they want exchange.
i might add that the injectors cost $1000 exchange. are you sure you want the ford motor?
they are wide, but can be made to fit with a few hits of the hammer or by removing and tubing the front.
id be looking at the duramax myself, they seem to be a bit better in the fun stakes.

turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
I say go for it, Just cause people say it can't be done doesn't mean it cant, Has anyone actually tried??
I would personally use the torqshift auto aswell and adapt the nissan transfer to that. I may have an adapter to suit available late in the year if all goes to plan.

by all means do the conversion, but be aware that ford V8 diesels are very expensive to fix in australia for some reason.
totally agree with killa though, ford auto mated to the patrol transfer.

Geez, the intercooler is mounted low.bogged wrote:Save time.

I still have the GU but just recently bought a GQ TB42 turbo. Nothing against GQ's. It will be a great expense for a vehicle of this value.
Value of your GQ, cost of this motor, adaptors, fabrication, time, etc.
I tend to agree with Bogged. Cost a conversion like this GU and all the extra's and I reckon it aint too bad.
Sorry if any offence taken.

You would have to spend another 10k to fix some of that bling bling so you could actually take it off road without being worried about scratching it or getting a stick through the fast and furious intercooler. Its a pitty scrap metal prices dropped so much. But it would be cheaper than getting one converted from scratch.
