Just wondering if anybody out there has put a set of the Superior engineering 'Drop and twist'shackles in the rear of their 60 series wagon?
I have put the shackles in myself and found they didnt actually increase the downwards wheel travel much at all..
To fix the problem i removed the load spring on the bottom of the spring pack and the other one just on top of it, hoping i would get more flex but still havent...
IN BOTH TESTS I HAD TAKEN THE SHOCKS OUT to stop them from limiting the travel..
Any ideas as to what could be stopping the wheel from dropping?
I was thinking mayby driveshaft? Possily needs to be lengthened but im not sure
I have also been told mayby the uni joint for the drive shaft can be binding because of the odd angle it is placed in???
im in a spot where im not sure weather to go all out and go for parabolic leaves and start spending lots of money or to put the old shackles in and sell it for an 80 series with coils...
DECISIONS DECISIONS! ARGH!
I have them and found that the slip joint doesnt want to come out but will drive all the way home and will push on your transfer case. Also shock lenghts need to be looked at. You really need to invert them. The spring pack has to be really light and can't have tight wrappers that hold all the springs together on them. They will just bend open. You need them like a rock crawler spring design. To make them work on mine I needed light custom springs. A modified tail shaft with long hardy spicer joint and a snake racing shock inversio kit. Some welding required
wouldn't your tailshaft be too long not too short?? as the spring drops the axle moves forward...
i would say everything is too tight and you need to take it for a wheel for some real world testing.
also what are you testing it on?? i find with leaves and drop shackles sometimes you need drive at the wheels to get it to work properly (if that makes sense)
