To the ppl who have done W2A cooler, how are the coolant temps holding up with another heat exhanger infront of the radiator?

Mine runs cooler now due to the cooler intake charge helping cool the valves, piston crown and head. Gauge doen't get over half most of the time. My fuel is maxed out and still need more as it is running lean on the dyno. Will be putting bigger pump and injectors soon. The only thing I would suggest is if you run full front mount heat exchanger and AC you will need a 3 core radiator if you haven't got one already.

Do you still have your a/c hooked up. I already have 1 car without a/c and its a pain in the ass on long trips on hot qld days.

yes its still hooked up, drove from Darwin to Wodonga with it on all the way when we had that heat wave, 47 Deg C at Cober Pede, sitting on 110km/hr temp gauge just below half.

Great! Not really. I haven't touched the Patrol since after the last trip when the alternator shat itself. Unless its come good by itself (new brushes and reg, but was overcharging), then i'll have to get that sorted out first. I'll be getting my rear drawers and winch sorted before i go spending more $$$ and time on the engine. I shall post results when it happens though!

i have one on my td42 gq, with a standard gu oil cooled turbo, running 13 pounds boost. i had it modified to bigger water pipe size (25mm). it has been an expensive exersize. but works well,
-intercooler, $150
-radiator, $220
-water pump, $200
-a electrical kit from ARE in brisbane, $200. runs a boost switch which restricts the water pump to 40lts a min for normal use, and when it comes on full boost the pump then runs at 60lts a min for 30 seconds after it comes off full boost.
- approx $1200 for fitting and hoses ect
total price approx $2000.

it works great, but for the money (in hindsight) ???
the best thing about the water to air is the short inlet length from turbo to inlet manifold, my ute is quite responsive. very little turbo lag.

I know this is an old post to dig up but dave what radiator/heat exchanger did you use, the std one or an aftermarket one?? Also did you use the std subaru water pump...

Cheers mate, am going to do this setup soon but was thinking of using an alloy radiator instead of the factory heat exchanger.
