Ned some help and ill give a brief on my problem.
The problem is between 2000 to 3000 it is not responsive. It just has this slow pick in this rev range.
Could it be:
a- The extractors (my sons has stock pipe and doesnt have this problem)
b- fuel being to rich (temp sensor?)
c- muffler restricting exhaust (brand new generic muffler)
d- advancing the timing helps but the it pings when under load.
e- could it be the o2 is not earthed properly? (how do i earth the extractors??)
When it starts in the morning it hesitated briefly and then its ok.
My 1990 feroza has extractors (Genie 4-2-1) new motor, 2" exhaust,new plugs, new leads, new fuel filter, new o2 sensor.
If anyone has any suggestions it would help me out as i am getting frustrated with this problem

The manual is your friend..... pull the ECU error codes - that's a good place to start.
Just be careful to interpret the connector correctly, IIRC the diagrams a bit confusing, check the wiring colors for the correct terminals if in doubt.
The Lambda sensor output is also in the diag connector so you can check it as well.

interestingly enough as MM says pulling the codes is the best start however dont go off the manual for a description of which terminals to short.
I did it this morning in fact and the manual said the ground was 'black' and then didnt really say anything about the test colour.
On my F310 i found that i have to short the 'brown' and the 'brown & white', got code one so i was happy!

ok since you in aus im going to assume that its the same deal for you as it was for me.
behind the stock airfilter attached to the firewall you should find a green terminal plug with a rubber cap filled cover on it.
you can take the plug off the firewall and then take the cover off it.
now with mine i found there to be a total of 6 possible pins (i only had 5, 3 on one side and 2 on the other)....... for me i had to short the middle one (from the side with 3) and either the one above or the one below it (cant remember but you will know as one way will just have the check engine light stay on like normal whereas the other will make it flash, be patient it has a 3 sec delay)
